Teachers of Uttarakhand University on strike over implementation of 7th Pay Commission

Around 500 teachers of Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture and Technology in Uttarakhand’s Udham Singh Nagar are on a strike since July. They are on strike over the demand of implementation of 7th Pay Commission & job regularisation among other demands. Pantnagar University Teachers Association (PUTA) staged the protest to represent teachers. The strike affected the new academic session.

Oil tanker drivers go on strike over safety concerns in Imphal

Drivers of oil tankers, who work along the Imphal-Dimapur highway, have gone on strike in Manipur’s Imphal. They are on strike over safety concerns due to ‘dilapidated condition of the highway’. The tanker drivers have to cross another section, which has been badly damaged by landslides. The highway is posing serious risks to all tanker drivers.

Patients face difficulties due to resident doctors strike at AIIMS Delhi

In Delhi, patients are facing difficulties as Resident Doctors Association (RDA) of AIIMS is on strike today over violence against doctors in West Bengal. While speaking to ANI, Relative of a patient said, "My mother's dialysis was scheduled for today, we were told to go and get it done from somewhere else." The Indian Medical Association (IMA) is on a nationwide protest today. Following an incident of mobs chasing and attacking junior doctors at medical colleges in West Bengal, a number of doctors have taken part in strikes to condemn such incidents and demand safe workplace for them. One of the junior doctors suffered head injuries due to the attack.
