The government's gross Goods and Services (GST) collections stood at a record Rs 2.37 lakh crore in April 2025, a month-on-month increase of 20.7 per cent, according to official data. In April 2024, the government's GST revenue stood at Rs 2.10 lakh crore, which was the second highest monthly tally ever since the new tax regime came into effect in July 2017. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman attributed the impressive growth to the resilience of the economy and strength of cooperative federalism.
