Emirates plans to cut about 30,000 jobs amid virus outbreak - Bloomberg News

Emirates Group is planning to cut about 30,000 jobs to reduce costs amid the coronavirus outbreak, which will bring down its number of employees by about 30% from more than 105,000 at the end of March, Bloomberg News reported on Sunday

Jet Airways, which also had a significant number of flights to Gulf region, including Dubai, has temporarily suspended operations due to cash crunch in mid-April. Dubai has two carriers, Emirates and Flydubai. The latter also flies to India. Air India, Air India Express, SpiceJet and IndiGo operate flights to Dubai.

But when Kumar – who had phoned the airline in advance to ensure they were aware of her son’s needs – asked for a seat with a vacant seat next to them in case he had a seizure, Emirates staff asked the family to show the medical certificate.
