India's exports grew around 60% in March for the first time in a month

India’s merchandise exports rose by over 58.2 per cent for the first time ever in a month. It crossed USD 34 billion in March 2021 as compared to USD 21.5 billion in March 2020, a Ministry of Commerce and Industry report released on Thursday said.

During April-September 2018-19, exports recorded a growth of 12.54 per cent to USD 164 billion. Imports during the period rose by 16.16 per cent to USD 258.36 billion, leaving a trade deficit of USD 94.32 billion in the first half of the current fiscal.

India's exports grew by 9 per cent to USD 24.38 billion in January, helped by a healthy growth in shipments of chemicals, engineering goods and petroleum products, even as the trade deficit widened to an over three-year high.
