RCom, controlled by billionaire Anil Ambani, has traditionally relied on short-term debt and covenant waivers from its banking relationships, but if these waivers are not received it could impact RCom`s $300 million bondholders "significantly", Moody`s said.

Moody's, ICRA downgrade RCom over debt concerns

Anil Ambani owned telecom company RCom&nbsp;has reported a loss of&nbsp;Rs 948 crore for the fourth quarter (Q4) ended on March 31, 2017 on back of&nbsp;intense price war in the telecom sector due to the entry of&nbsp;Reliance Jio which has hurt the profitability and income of the company.

Annalisa Di Chiara a Moody's Vice President and Senior Credit Officer said,”The downgrade primarily reflects our expectation that RCom's leverage, as measured by consolidated debt/EBITDA (including Moody's adjustment for spectrum liabilities) will remain above 7x over the next 6-9 months while the company pursues regulatory, shareholder and debt holder approvals for its announced restructuring, including the de-merger of its wireless business and sale of its tower assets.”
