NPPA reduces prices of essential drugs by more than 50% in March-Oct 2016
NPPA on Tuesday tweeted list of 23 essential medicines under NLEM 2015 of which prices were reduced for more than 50% from March to October 2016.

With an aim to provide affordable and cost-effective drugs to people, the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) has reduced prices of drugs by more than 50% in the seven months last year.

NPPA is the government agency under the department of pharmaceuticals which controls the prices of drugs in India.

Similarly, the drug pricing control agency has reduced prices of 75 drugs under National List of Essential Medicines (NLEM) on October last year in the range of 30% to 50%.

Moreover, the agency has brought down prices of cardiovascular disease drugs manufactured by top brands like Lupin, Micro Labs, Sanofi India, Zydus Cadila, Ranbaxy Laboratories, among others in the range of 13% to 42% since March last year.
