7th Pay Commission: Following in the footsteps of the central government, the Yogi government in Uttar Pradesh and Manik Saha-led Tripura government have increased dearness allowance (DA) and dearness relief (DR) in their respective states. With Holi celebrations just a few days away, the decision will give relief to 10 lakh employees, 12 lakh pensioners and eight lakh teachers in the UP government. Last week, Centre also revised tax exemption limit for gratuity, and HRA rates.

7th Pay Commission: When the central government announced a four per cent hike in dearness allowance (DA) and dearness releif (DR) for its employees and pensioners, it also announced an increase in House Rent Allowance (HRA). Apart from these two changes, Centre also announced a big change in the form of a tax exemption limit on gratuity of a central government employee. The limit on tax exemption has been increased from Rs 20 lakh to Rs 25 lakh. However, equally important for an employee is to know their gratuity amount at the time of retirement. Know how much gratuity you will get if your basic salary is Rs 15000 or Rs 20,000.

It has also increased House Rent Allowance (HRA) and also hiked tax exemption limit for gratuity. After a four per cent hike, the DA has reached at 50 per cent. According to the government order, the DA has been revised from 12 per cent of the basic pay to 17 per cent for state government employees working in regular Pay Levels under 7th Pay commission recommendations.
