Shift public transport vehicles in NCR to CNG: Delhi to neighbouring states

Delhi has suggested its surrounding states to shift their public transport vehicles in the National Capital Region to CNG and adopt a policy to promote electric vehicles, Environment Minister Gopal Rai said on Thursday.

"Private people should come forward for a model like London transport here. I have urged manufacturers that apart from manufacturing buses you open an operator company. They will get business. If manufacturers like Tata, Ashok Leyland could invest and introduce a fleet of such buses, it can easily be run," the minister said on the sidelines of the summit.

"Several agencies are involved in this including Centre for Development of Advanced Computing, banks and Urban Development Ministry. Huge amount of technology work has been done. We have had several rounds of meetings and all ministries are involved," Kant said.
