UP farmer loses bank accounts for being named Vijay Mallya's guarantor
It seems like not only Indian banks but even a local farmer in Pilibhit, a district in Uttar Pradesh, is displeased for being associated with Vijay Mallya.
Manmohan Singh, a farmer, is disgruntled with the local branch of Bank of Baroda because his two bank accounts were frozen after he was named as a bank guarantor for Vijay Mallya.
According to an inquiry led by Bank of Baroda's Nariman Point branch, Singh, who had Rs 2,000 in one of the accounts and Rs 4,000 in the other, has now lost access to both the accounts, a report by Zee Business has said.
Now, the local farmer has been allegedly deprived of banking facilities and all kinds of government-sponsored schemes, including Minimum Support Price (MSP) as these are directly credited to the bank account.
Singh claims that he has never even heard of Vijay Mallya or Kingfisher Airlines.
"I do not understand how this happened. I do not know anything about Mallya and have never visited Mumbai in my life,” a Times of India report said quoting Singh.
According to the TOI report, Singh has taken a loan of Rs 5 lakh from the bank but has always paid his dues on time.
