Bigil film has already achieved several milestones in terms of box office collection and has its eyes set on another record now. It is to break the box office record of Baahubali 2 at Chennai box office, if it continues to perform like it's been doing so far. As per the last update, the film had collected Rs 13 crore in Chennai.
Bigil's nett box office collection stands at Rs 180 crore while its domestic gross collection is Rs 208.5 crore. Meanwhile, it has earned Rs 93 gross at the international box office, taking the worldwide gross collection to Rs 301.50 crore. "#Bigil Worldwide Breakup- India Gross ₹ 208.5 cr. The film had released on Diwali and crossed the Rs 200-crore mark globally in just five days since its release. "#Bigil grossed Rs 203 crore globally in flat 5 days. #ThalapathyVijay unstoppable winning streak continues," Kadel had tweeted then.
Directed by Atlee Kumar, Bigil is a sports action film that has Vijay in dual roles as father and son. As the father, he plays a local don and as the son he is the coach of a women's football team. The actor underwent training for the coach's character. Incidentally, this is his third release with Atlee after "Theri" and "Mersal".
