In today's episode, market analyst Sandeep Jain said: "If we talk about the fundamentals of Geojit Financial Services, the good thing is that the PE multiple of the company is 10-11. The debt of the company is almost zero. The company has performed well in the last few quarters.

"Overall, Geojit Financial Services Limited is available at very good levels. I'm very bullish on this stock. Investors should buy this stock at these current levels. It will be beneficial for them in the future," he further added.

Amit Jatia, Vice-Chairman, Westlife Development Pvt. Ltd. talks about third-quarter numbers of the financial year 2020-21, impact of bird flu on his business, product pipeline and commodity price hike and plans to raise prices of his products among others during a candid chat with Swati Khandelwal, Zee Business.&nbsp;Edited Excerpts:&nbsp;

Q: How will you summarise the third quarter of FY21 and what were the important highlights? Also, tell us about the exceptional gain of Rs 4 crore that is visible in your result?

A:&nbsp;If you have a look at it, there has been a lot of processes month-on-month and from October, when Mumbai and Maharashtra opened these stores. The good news is while exiting the quarter in December, we were at 97% pre-COVID levels. Pre-COVID being February 2020. The in-store dining has also recovered almost 85%. The biggest thing about this quarter is that the sales of our convenience channels in not falling although our stores are recovering.

So, I expect that in the coming quarters the when in-store will continue to grow, the convenience channels will be there, they are here to stay and with that our same-store sales will grow well in the coming quarters ahead. The other more important thing is the margins growth was also good. In fact, if you have a look on December then in the month, we delivered an operating EBITDA of 13.1% at 25% lower sales. It gives happiness that at lower sales we were able to maintain the operating EBITDA on a year-on-year basis. So, overall, I would say that it has progressed well in the quarter, the consumer confidence is looking good, and I have faith that recovery will start in the coming quarters, particularly from January onwards. You also talked about the profit, it stood at almost Rs 8 crore. So, from losing Rs 20 crore to Rs 8 crore and cash flow was also good at 35%. So, all-in-all, it was a good quarter.

Q: Has Bird Flu had any impact, if yes, then can you quantify it and what kind of footfalls is happening? Also, to what extent your restaurants are open at this point?

A:&nbsp;As far as bird flu is concerned, bird flu is something that has happened three-four times in the past. And, we have seen that consumers do not reduce their visits, so it does not have any impact on the total sales, but the product mix shifts. So instead of chicken, particularly at McDonald's, we have a favourite product called ' Filet-O-Fish', so many people move towards it and there is plenty of vegetarian options. Therefore, overall sales remain but the product mix shifts. So, we are quite hopeful that things will remain the same as far as there is a question related to bird flu.

When it comes to opening of the restaurants and the footfalls, then almost 100% of the restaurants' have been opened, in fact, we have opened three new restaurants in this quarter. And, I am very proud to say that we have also opened a McDonald's at the departure of the international airport in January. The growth momentum has started at our end and we have plans to start 25-30 new restaurants in FY22. So, we are quite bullish that going forward the business will remain good and consumer confidence will continue to be strong.

Q: Tell us about the product launch pipeline and what kind of new additions will be seen on the menu?

A:&nbsp;McDonald's is a brand that has launched two new products even in this lockdown, which is a difficult period, and it showcases the strength of our supply chain. We have also launched a gourmet line of products and we want to encourage it a lot. The whole idea is that now people understand burgers and can relate themselves with it. Now, when burgers are becoming standardised, consumers want new news in it, they want big products, different fillings in different toppings. And, on the same basis, we have started this gourmet burger line and we are quite excited about the consumers' response to that.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Q: We are seeing a continuous rise in commodity prices. How it has impacted your business, and have you taken any price hike due to it or have plans to do so? Also, how will you summarise the calendar year FY22 and what special will be seen from McDonald's end?

A:&nbsp;&nbsp;Even I feel that inflation may come in the future as it all depends on how the supply constraints will declog. And, if consumption comes at a fast pace then suppliers will have to deliver at that pace. But this is not something new because, in the 20 years of our business, there were several times when the inflation used to increase a lot. So, we have already factored that if the commodity prices increase by 2-3% then we are trying to adopt such cost initiatives that it can negate it.

Therefore, we have deep-dived the P&amp;L of every line item, particularly, we are closely monitoring the supply chain cost. We are talking with every supplier having an eye on their P&amp;L that how we can take out the cost in it so that our efficiency increases and if inflation occurs then how we can deal with it. Lastly, we also hedge under which the commodities, where it seems that its prices can go up in the future, we hedge them for the whole year, particularly in the case of edible oil. So, we will navigate in this manner and it seems that commodity prices may go up, but the business should be planned to address that, and we have factored-in that at HRPL.

Rajdipkumar Gupta, Managing Director and Group Chief Executive Officer, Route Mobile Limited, talks about the performance of September quarter and future outlook, firewall contract with BSNL, acquisition of TeleDNA and client additions among others, during a candid chat with Swati Khandelwal, Zee Business. Edited Excerpts:

Q: Back-to-back brilliant performance, may it be about the listing or the quarter performance. What would you suggest people who missed your shares in IPO and do you think investors should look forward to your shares?

A: First of all, I would like to say that the guidance that we provided during the launch of our IPO, we are going to stick with that. The company’s growth will continue to grow on a year-on-year basis because the digital acceleration and digital penetration will increase in the coming days. I will not provide any guidance, but people are following and seeing it in the market, the way the digital platform is being adopted. So, I think, the future of our Route Mobile is bright.

Q: Let’s talk about the results, the revenue is almost 80% up, EBITDA has grown by 113%, the margin is up to 13.5% from 11.1% and PAT is 152% up. What led to this growth and what were the key reasons for the quarter in terms of topline and bottom line?

A:&nbsp;For the last one-and-a-half to two years, our entire focus was on enterprise customers. And, enterprise customer is a sticky business and their contribution as a platform usage is quite large. For the last one-and-a-half year, we were focusing on large enterprise customers as we thought the larger the customer is, the larger will be the usage of the platform. And in the same way, the hard work that we did in the last 2-3 years is visible and in the coming days, this will continue.

Q: How many new clients have you added and in which bracket in Q2FY21? Going forward, what is your outlook on client additions?

A:&nbsp;Recently, we have signed a few contracts, like we have won the firewall contract with BSNL. And, I think, because of this the revenue leakage option in BSNL will be controlled completely and it will have multiple options from which BSNL can generate revenue. Along with that, we have onboard some such customers, whose potential is very huge, which may turn into a 5-10 million dollars year-on-year. So, I think, 3-4 new customer additions are very bright and I feel that in the next few quarters their contribution to our revenue will be very high.

Q: Can you provide the numbers for example the incremental revenue that is expected from the BSNL deal? And recently in July, you also acquired TeleDNA, telecom operator related business. What's the synergy value here and how many more acquisitions are in pipeline for the rest of FY21?

A: When it comes to numbers, we will be able to provide monetization guidance when the first month of monetization is known after the implementation of our firewall. But it seems that the potential is quite high because several grey routes were being used on the BSNL network, which was leading to high revenue leakages. I feel, their revenue will go up after the implementation of the firewall but I can’t provide any guidance, now, but post-implementation, I will be able to speak about it. As far as TeleDNA acquisition is concerned, the company has acquired TeleDNA to provide more products offering to the operator, like the complete firewall contract of BSNL will be implemented by TeleDNA and they have a complete firewall solution. So, indirectly, a synergy sits completely in which as of today if the entire product portfolio of 365 and TeleDNA is combined then Route Mobile can now offer an end-to-end solution to the operator.

At the same time, I would also like to share with you that 15% of the total revenue of Route Mobile comes from the operators and we provide our solutions to 10-12 global operators. SO, we expect that in the coming days, our solutions will be used by the operators of the emerging countries and the combination of TeleDNA and 365 will play an important role for us.

Amit Shah: I also congratulate the entire nation on the occasion of Navratri and would like to tell everyone that the festival of power should be celebrated in a way that we move forward in the direction of beating Coronavirus. Take precautions, wear masks, maintain two feet distance and also take care of cleanliness. This festival brings out happiness for everyone and the luck this festival has brought will take us as a nation on the path of progress. This is how I wish and congratulate the nation. &nbsp; &nbsp;

Q. Amit Ji you have always been in limelight for your work, but this year you have been in limelight also because of poor health and there was a concern about your health in the entire country. Your well-wishers were worried and your enemies were planning something. So, the first thing entire country wants to know is about your health update. How are you doing?

A. First, &nbsp;I would like to make it clear that I do not have enmity against anyone. However, there might be people who may have objection towards my ideology and my style of working. I do not want to be dragged into this, and would like to make that clear that I am completely fit and healthy now. &nbsp;I was infected with corona and there was a little weakness initially. Doctors have suggested to stay in isolation to regain my immunity. Now, I am completely healthy and work with full energy and at currently I am present among you.

Q. Since there are different ideologies among political leaders across the world, leaders of big stature are usually secretive about their health? 
A: I am not a bit secretive about my health. I tweeted about coronavirus within 20 minutes of being infected with the virus. I had also said that everyone who came in my contact should get their tests done, quarantine themselves, so that others do not get infected. There is nothing to keep secret about it. Anyone can fall ill any time. It is important to get treated for it.

Q.&nbsp; Did you public exposure got limited during this period? You were not seen in public for long time. It appears that your first public exposure will be upcoming Bihar elections?&nbsp;

A. Yes, I am scheduled to visit Bihar after October 25.&nbsp;

Q.&nbsp; I remember visiting Bihar in 2015 during Bihar Assembly Elections. You had said that BJP was in good position at that point of time as well. What difference do you see from 2015 and now?&nbsp;

A: We were also in good position 2015. Our position had only strengthened and we also won more seats in Bihar assembly and our vote count has also gone up. But since social equation was not in our favour, we had lost the election. And it is also very much evident that JDU-RJD alliance and other alliances had their social equation stronger than the BJP.&nbsp; But this time is different. Social equation is in our favour this time,&nbsp;

Another thing is that after Narendra Modi government successfully completed its five-year tenure had also very bravely handled corona situation in the country. The problem was even grave for daily wagers, who had nothing to earn and feed their family during the lockdown. 60 crore poor people were the worst hit during these difficult times and by ensuring free ration from March till “Chhath Puja” at their doorsteps, the Narendra Modi government has done a splendid job. Money was sent in every women Jan Dhan account, Rs 6,000 was transferred in every farmer’s account, every disabled, every old person received money.

All I am saying is that be small scale, medium or large industries, the Modi government announced package catering to each sector and it has helped sate like Bihar very much. Bihar government also did a good job during this period. Almost every migrant labourer who returned to Bihar was provided food, shelter and were given Rs 1,000 from the state government after completion of their mandatory quarantine period. Currently, Bihar’s recovery rate has crossed 90%, it has come around 94% now. This is one of the fastest recovery rates in India. You know that Bihar health infrastructure is naturally considered comparatively weaker than other states, and even under this scenario, a recovery rate of 94 % is a great achievement of Nitish Ji government.&nbsp;

So the kind of work under Modi Ji, Indian government and under Nitish Ji, NDA government in Bihar have done against Coronavirus is our great savings. This is ought to pay us dividend in Bihar elections and social equation is also in our favour.&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;

Q. If you remember when this Covid-19 episode has begun, migrant labourers was a big issue and there was a big hype about it in the media as well. It appeared at that point as if the situation was not under control the way people were out on streets. Do you think that situation, the images of those situation will benefit you or hurt you in any way in the election as it will be first referendum of people on it since this is the first election in this period.&nbsp;&nbsp;

A.&nbsp; It is fact that many people had left for their native places on foot before any arrangement could have been made. But this is also a fact that more than 1500 trains carrying migrant labourers and people in general safely from different states had left for Bihar. It is also a fact that 2.5 crore had been sent to their respective places with the help of trains, buses and other different modes of transporation. But it was not possible to ferry everyone at the same time. There was such situation in some states, especially in Maharashtra where there was a communication gap and lack of facility to ferry these people to railway stations, forcing them to leave for their respective destination on foot.&nbsp;

Despite it many governments, including Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan and others, tried their best to pick them up by sending buses and ferrying them back to railway stations. Their food arrangements were also made, but it is also a fact that despite all efforts there were people who suffered during this period. But they also understand that when 50 people had returned to their village and only two out of them on their foot, the government had tried to make made sufficient arrangements.&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;

Q. But did it occur to you at that time that the government misread the situation or media hyped it more than what it was and opposition parties further hyped this matter even more?&nbsp; &nbsp;

A. See, what happened was due to communication gap and certain migrant labourers losing their patience. Anyway, that shouldn’t have happened either. But when so many people left on their own, one week time that it took to help them, convince them to bring them back to the mainstream arrangements was a calamitous time.&nbsp;

Q. Amit Ji there is big confusion about Chirag Paswan and LJP. It is not clear they are on which side. It appears that even people are confused and it might happen that your workers too would be confused. How do you plan to solve this confusion?&nbsp;

A It is good that you asked this question Sudhir ji. I cannot speak anything on behalf of LJP as I have no right to speak on behalf of the party, but I would like to clear all the air on behalf of NDA and BJP that LJP is not part of NDA in Bihar elections. In Bihar, four parties have come together under Shri Nitish Kumar to fight elections. And since Modi ji is leading NDA at national level, I would like to appeal to all the worker of these four parties to work hard to ensure a win for the representatives.&nbsp;

There are many things that are said during elections that could create confusion but Bihar people have very good understanding of political acumen. Those who understand Bihar politics also know that Bihar is among the two-three states that are politically more aware in the country. They know who stands where. It does not change anything by putting pictures in newspapers or posters. Modi Ji will visit Bihar, I will go Bihar, our national president will also tour Bihar to clear all the confusion. This matter cannot remain hidden. This is clear that NDA is fighting under Nitish Kumar and LJP is nowhere in this picture.

Q. Chirag Paswan's statement that Modi ji is in his heart as Shri Ram ji was in Hanuman ji's heart. Do you think this statement was made to create confusion?&nbsp;

A. No, many Opposition parties think like that. It doesn’t mean that he is with BJP, many people think like that.&nbsp;

Q. Do you think Chirag Paswan is being too ambitious? This is because there was no such problem when Paswan ji (Ram Vilas Paswan) was alive?&nbsp;

A. This is his own calculation. I have no right to comment on whether he is ambitious or not, but I would like to say that from our end, from NDA side, BJP was talking to him, Nadda ji was discussing with him, I was also talking to him, Both of us, our national president and me, have offered him enough seats but he did not agree and walked away from the alliance. When he severed the ties with the alliance, he is not part of the alliance as far as Bihar election is concerned.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Q. And since he continues to be part of the alliance in the Centre, this confusion is also because of that?&nbsp;

A. This is time of Bihar election, the situation which will appear after that will make things clearer, but I would like to make that clear that LJP is not part of NDA in Bihar elections.

Q.&nbsp;LJP leaders are also saying that you have given more importance to VIP&nbsp;party and its shouldn’t have happened. By giving more prominence to VIP, have you made them VVIP?&nbsp;&nbsp;

A.&nbsp;This is their understanding.&nbsp;I also want&nbsp;that&nbsp;and&nbsp;the&nbsp;BJP under Modi ji has&nbsp;anyway tried to give better position to backwards and even better to&nbsp;extra&nbsp;backwards.&nbsp;

As the world waits expectantly for COVID-19 vaccine, Zydus Cadila Chairman Pankaj R Patel said India would need to invest between Rs 3,000-5,000 crore to create additional facilities for making a huge number of vaccines required for the Indian population.

He also said that the vaccine alone is not the solution to the COVID-19 problem.

"... If India has to produce and deliver 130 crore doses to Indian people in one year time, my opinion is that India would need to invest in manufacturing facilities to the extent of roughly Rs 3,000 to Rs 5,000 crore to create additional capacity to make it happen," Patel said.

These vaccines are coming from a very difficult platform, and as a result, the cost of the vaccine is going to be significantly higher compared to many other vaccines, so there is going to be a requirement to think about how are we going to fund this, he said in a panel discussion on 'Race for COVID Vaccine: More than just a Cure' at an AIMA event.

Emphasizing that while the vaccine will play an important role in the control of the pandemic, Patel said: "Vaccine alone in my opinion is not the solution to the problem. We need the vaccine and also we need more treatment protocols to make sure we are able to take care of it, because I think the way the vaccine trials are designed currently globally, there is not going to be a possibility of immunity in 100 per cent of people."

Moreover, the requirement of the vaccine doses is going to be very high. Given the fact almost all vaccines are going to work at least two doses, if we look at India's population and decide to immunise 50 per cent of the population, we would require over 130 crore doses and that's not the capacity anybody has. Even if people have the capacity to produce, it cannot happen in one day. It can only happen over a long period, Patel said.

Another challenge we would have is "how long the immunity will last with this vaccine? If the vaccine is going to give a long-term immunity, it will be wonderful, but if it provides short-term immunity then we will have to keep on immunising people again and again," he added.

A vaccine is definitely needed to control the spread of this disease, but the vaccine alone is not enough, and other efforts such as social distancing, wearing mask, isolating and testing people will continue to remain important, Patel said.

Speaking about logistics of the distribution system, Patel said the country needs to have a very strong distribution system. Because of the number of doses, "there could be challenges of glass vials supply, though I don't see challenges to supply of syringes", he added.

The central government has issued standard operating procedures (SOPs) for a partial reopening of schools for students of Classes 9-12. However, it has made it clear that it is not mandatory for educational institutes.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

After a negative Monday closing, the stock markets today bounced back strongly posting significant gains in the day’s trade. Both the BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty 50 were up by around 1.5 per cent at&nbsp;the&nbsp;close. While the Sensex was trading at 38,492.95, up by over 558 points at the end of day’s trade, the broader&nbsp;market&nbsp;NSE Nifty 50&nbsp;closed at 11,300.55, up by over 168 points. 
 
In the 30 share BSE Sensex, 25 stocks were trading in the green at the time of closing while the remaining 5 were ended in the red. The top gainers on Tuesday were Ultratech Cement, TCS, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Mahindra &amp; Mahindra and Maruti Suzuki while the top losers at close were ICICI Bank, Nestle India, Asian Paints, ONGC and ITC.&nbsp;

Meanwhile, Ultratech Cement, Kotak Mahindra Bank, TCS, Grasim Industries and Tata Motors were the top gainers on Nifty Fifty on Tuesday in the&nbsp;closing&nbsp;trade. The top losers were&nbsp;ICICI Bank, Bharti Infratel, Nestle India, Asian Paints and ONGC.&nbsp;&nbsp;

&nbsp;&nbsp;Today, the USDINR futures were trading at 74.8575 around against the USD at 4:30 am on BSE.&nbsp;&nbsp;

South India-based Lakshmi Vilas Bank is likely to have a new promoter as Clix Capital has submitted a Letter of Intent (LoI) for buying a 45 per cent share, Zee Business’ Pooja Tripathi reports. The deal size is estimated to be somewhere between Rs 1400 cr and Rs 1500 cr.

Tripathi said that this was second such attempt to buy shares in the bank – a similar attempt was earlier made by Indiabulls Housing Finance Limited.

In her exclusive research she brings in a comparison between Lakshmi Vilas Bank and another South Indian bank – the Karnataka Bank.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

While the former has a market capitalisation at Rs 625 cr and has been under sustained losses, the latter is better valued with a much stronger balance sheet, she said. Lakshmi Vilas Bank has been under under the PCA (Prompt Corrective Action) Framework.&nbsp;Market cap of Karnataka Bank is at Rs 1307 cr.

The Karnataka Bank shares are available at a P/E ratio of 3 with a P/B value of 0.22 which makes it an attractive buy in comparison to the Lakshmi Vilas Bank. RBI has also not given the NPA divergence report on Karnataka bank till now, she said.&nbsp;P/E for Lakshmi Vilas Bank is -0.5 while its P/B value is 0.4.

Karnataka Bank is also a much better managed bank in terms of due diligence as the bank has been very proactive on its problematic accounts, she said.

Some analyst reports even suggest that there could be a fall in the provision coverage ratio of the bank. The bank also reported a good Q4 results especially in terms of its NPAs. The new NPAs have come down during the last quarter with Gross NPA numbers standing at 4.82 per cent, down from 4.99 per cent.&nbsp;Net NPA have also come down to 3.08 per cent, she said. The gross and net NPAs for Lakshmi Vilas Bank stand at 21.25 per cent and 10.47 per cent respectively.

The bank has also been working on its margins and it is expected that in FY 21 they could reach at 3 per cent.

7th Pay Commission: The West Bengal Higher Education Department has issued an order for revision of pay scale of college and university teachers which has been implemented from January 1, 2020.&nbsp;

West Bengal government had announced the new pay scale on November 5 and also declared that the professors from colleges and universities will get a hike of 3%&nbsp; on their basic salary&nbsp; for four years from 2016-2019.

Earlier, 2 teachers association has said that if they don't get paid according to UGC 7th Pay commission revised salary, they will launch protests.&nbsp;

All Bengal University Teachers Association said that the scheme for pay scale decided by the government is not according to the 7th Pay Commission revision scheme and the order did not address their demands.&nbsp; They added that along with the revised pay scale, they should also get arrears.&nbsp;

In a bid to ensure better crowd management and connectivity to the Mumbai Metro, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) in collaboration with World Resources Institute (WRI) India Ross Center and Toyota Mobility Foundation (TMF) jointly launched the Station Access and Mobility Program (STAMP) in Mumbai on Wednesday.

How STAMP will facilitate access to the Metro in Mumbai?

"The program aims at enabling public-private partnership by launching a challenge to seek innovative data and technology-based solutions to improve crowd management and first- and last-mile connectivity to the Mumbai Metro," an official statement said.

STAMP will be facilitated by the partners, namely, Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM), Mumbai Traffic Police (MTP), Mumbai Rail Vikas Corporation Limited (MRVC), Mumbai Metro One Pvt. Ltd. (MMOPL) and Maharashtra State Innovation Society (MSInS).

STAMP 2019: All you need to know

-The STAMP initiative invites entrepreneurs, citizens’ groups, professionals, and students to submit proposals targeted at seamless multi-modal transfer.&nbsp;

-Their proposals should enhance commuter experience, last-mile connectivity options to metro/suburban rail, and/or traffic flow management systems for station access areas.&nbsp;&nbsp;

-Selected solutions and service providers will be able to leverage information provided by MMRDA, MCGM, MTP, MRVC, MMOPL and WRI India.&nbsp;

- The objective is to apply new technologies to better utilize data and address commuting and access challenges faced by metro users in Mumbai.&nbsp;

- Proposals will be evaluated in a two-step process, based on criteria such as potential for impact and deployment, sustainability and replicability.&nbsp;

- The final teams will participate in an intensive five-day accelerator with stakeholders to help adapt solutions to identified problem statements.&nbsp;

- The accelerator will culminate in a public Pitch Day event, at which 2-3 winning proposals will be announced and awarded research grants and an opportunity to pilot their solutions.

Noteworthy, this is the fourth edition of the STAMP challenge led by WRI India and Toyota Mobility Foundation. Previously, they have worked in Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Kochi to improve access and last-mile connectivity to mass transit systems using data. This year, WRI and TMF will work towards improving access and usage of metro transit in Mumbai by sourcing innovative and sustainable entrepreneurial solutions.&nbsp;

Launching STAMP 2019, RA Rajeev, Metropolitan Commissioner, MMRDA said, “To ensure smooth, efficient and safe dispersal of commuters for last/first mile connectivity MMRDA is implementing multimodal integration plans together with technology innovations. In this context MMRDA is happy to associate with WRI and other concerned agencies.”

Toyota Mobility Foundation Director, Prasanna Ganesh remarked, “After successful pilots in Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Kochi, STAMP Mumbai will take another step to comprehensively tackle the first- and last-mile problem.”
