Solar Eclipse 2022: Solar eclipses are only visible from within the area on Earth where the Moon's shadow falls, and the closer you are to the center of the shadow's path, the bigger the eclipse looks. Solar eclipses are usually named for their darkest, or maximum, point. The exception is the hybrid eclipse.

Solar Eclipse 2022: Solar Eclipse or Surya Grahan is now visible in India, Europe, the Urals and Western Siberia, Central Asia, Western Asia, and north-east of Africa. This partial solar eclipse is being observed in several parts of the country with Srinagar witnessing the maximum obscuration of the solar disc at 55 per cent.

The partial solar eclipse The first contact, where in the moon begins to cover the solar disc, happened at 4:29 pm in Delhi, where the moon was expected to cover 43 per cent of the solar disc. The eclipse will be over at 18:26:03.

Since the eclipse is taking place in the evening, the ending of the celestial phenomenon will not be visible as it would take place after sunset.

A safe technique to observe the solar eclipse is either by using proper filter like aluminized Mylar, black polymer, welding glass of shade number 14 or by making projection of sun's image on a white board by telescope.

In India, people usually prefer to stay indoors and not consume any food items during the time of the Grahan or eclipse. Many believe in taking a bath after the eclipse is over and changing to new clothes. Chanting mantras dedicated to the sun god is another practice followed by many households in the country.
