CNG taxis, autos pose threat, Maharashtra govt set to launch crackdown

The Maharashtra government has taken cognizance of the fact that auto rickshaws and taxis are not taking proper care of CNG tanks and have now formed a committee to look into it. The issue is crucial as it concerns the safety of passengers availing these modes of transport.

After 'one paisa' bids fiasco, PNGRB changes bid norms for CNG, PNG retail licence

PNGRB has so far held eight rounds of bidding where companies were asked to quote the tariff for pipeline that carries gas within the city limits. This bidding criteria did not include the rate at which an entity would sell CNG to automobiles or piped natural gas to households using the same pipeline network, leading to companies offering one paisa as tariff to win licences.

The price of CNG being supplied in Rewari is being increased by 95 paise per kg from Rs 50.67 per kg to Rs 51.62 per kg. Indraprastha Gas Ltd (IGL) will continue to offer a discount of Rs 1.50 per kg in the selling prices of CNG (compressed natural gas) for filling between 12.30 am to 5.30 am at select outlets, the company said in a statement.
