Huawei Mate 20 unveiled; set to rival Apple iPhone XS Max, Samsung Galaxy Note 9; Check price, specs and features

In order to make its place in premium category smartphones, Chinese company Huawei has launched the Mate 20 series that includes four devices – Mate 20, Mate 20 Pro, Mate 20X and Porsche Design Mate 20 RS. Of the four newly launched devices, Huawei Mate 20 Pro is set to rival Apple iPhone XS Max and Samsung Galaxy Note 9, according to BGR.

1. Huawei Mate 20 Pro is set to give a stiff challenge to Apple as well as Samsung as the new device sports features like glass back and metal casing with a 6.39-inch OLED display that has a resolution of 3120 x 1440 pixels and 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The display is reportedly curved at both the edges, giving it the look of Samsung Galaxy S series phone. The new Huawei phone is being offered in five colours of Morpha Aurora. 
 
On the other hand, iPhone XS Max and Galaxy Note 9 feature a 6.5-inch and 6.4-inch OLED display, which is stated to be the best on any smartphone so far and Huawei will have a tough task to match them.

2. Huawei Mate 20 Pro is the first smartphone to be powered by Kirin 980 chipsets, bringing faster CPU, GPU and NPU performance compared to Kirin 970. The company is also introducing a new form of external storage called NM card, which is basically memory card in the size of nano SIM card. The new device reportedly supports under-display fingerprint sensor along with 3D facial recognition like iPhone X. The Mate 20 Pro runs EMUI 9 based on Android 9 Pie and flaunts features like Digital Wellbeing, besides 4,200mAh battery with 15W fast wirelesss charging support and superfast wired charging via supplied 40W charger. 
 
However, iPhone XS Max, however, with 4GB RAM and option for 64GB or 256GB or 512GB storage is stated to be the most powerful smartphone in the market. 
 
Samsung Galaxy Note 9, on the other hand, is powered by either Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 or Exynos 9810 octa-core CPU, but falls short against the other two rivals.

3. Huawei Mate 20 Pro comes with a price tag of approximately Rs 89,100, but this rate is for 6GB RAM and 128GB storage variant phones. The Chinese firm has so far not revealed the India pricing for this model, said the BGR report. 
 
Apple iPhone XS Max is priced at Rs 1,09,900 for 64GB storage while 256GB and 512GB variants are priced at Rs 1,24,900 and Rs 1,44,900 respectively. 
 
Samsung Galaxy Note 9 is priced at Rs 67,900 for 6GB RAM variant, while 8GB RAM version will cost you Rs 84,900.

4. A monster in terms of specifications, Huawei Mate 20 Pro also brings improved camera setup with three camera arranged in the form of a matrix with LED flash acting as the fourth element. 
 
Apple iPhone XS Max and Galaxy Note 9 feature dual rear camera setup with primary 12-megapixel sensor for wide-angle images and secondary 12-megapixel sensor equipped with 2x telephoto lens. The latter fail in comparison to Huawei’s camera setup, which reportedly offers better low-light performance.
