Apple iPhone users surely worry about what the company knows about their usage. The users mail, photos, private financial data and more are all out there on Apple servers. However, Apple will now allow users to peek into what all it has saved about you. Now, Apple will allow its phone users to download data collected from them. In this regard, the phonemaker has launched a dedicated privacy portal, but this is for US users only at the moment. The portal reportedly allows the users to request a copy of their data, correct any errors and pause or delete their Apple account.
Apple had launched a privacy portal for European users in May, according to Daily Mail Online. This initiative is a part of Apple's compliance with the new General Data Protection Regulation rules. General Data Protection Regulation rules require a company to have a data portability tool to protect users and their data.
Apple phone users in Canada, Australia and New Zealand can also take advantage of the portal in addition to the US customers. Users could request their data by contacting Apple directly prior to the tool launching. The customers will have to wait a few days for Apple to prepare the file once they make a request.
Data like photos, iCloud data, calendar entries, documents, App Store purchases, among other information are available on the portal. Users have to go to Apple's privacy website and log into your Apple account, the report said.
Apple will send a six-digit code to your iOS device and you can use that code to log in on the Privacy website.
How to find your phone data:
1. Apple phone users have to click on 'Manage Your Privacy' and scroll down to "Take charge of your data".
2. Click on the 'Visit your Data and Privacy page'
3. Select "Get a copy of your data' option".
4. Select data you might like to download. This process may take up to seven days.
To ensure data security, Apple uses this time to verify that the request was made by the actual customer.
