I reviewed the Jazz Blue color variant of Mi 11 Lite for almost two weeks that compete against smartphones like Samsung Galaxy A52, Realme 8 Pro, and Vivo iQOO Z3. Here's what I think about this new lightweight smartphone from Xiaomi. Before taking a deep dive into this review, let me tell you that this is the most lightweight Android smartphone I have reviewed this year so far.
The reason why Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite can be a good choice for those customers looking to buy a smartphone under 25K, is that Xiaomi didn't compromise with features and performance to make this phone slimmer and lightweight. As I mentioned above, the smartphone offers top-end features which will attract young buyers.
And when it comes to design and outlook, this smartphone from Xiaomi is incredibly beautiful and gives a premium look just like the other Mi 11 series smartphones. Measuring just 6.8mm in thickness and weighing in at a mere 157grams, Mi 11 Lite is indeed the slimmest and the lightest smartphone of 2021. The smartphone is extremely lightweight and very comfortable to use. In terms of weight, it is lighter than the Apple iPhone 12. Seriously, it gives you a good feeling when you hold this handy smartphone. Even this smartphone doesn't attract fingerprint marks easily.
Whether you talking on the phone for long hours or you're binge-watching web series on OTT platforms, the Mi 11 Lite won't disappoint you - It is easy to hold and one can carry it in hands for longs hours comfortably. With the plastic frames and glass back, the device gave us a premium in-hand feel. In terms of overall and design and looks, the Mi 11 Lite has scored full marks here.
On the rear side, the Mi 11 Lite has a curved square camera block with a triple-camera module and a LED flash on the top left corner. It features an advanced 64MP primary camera with 8MP ultra-wide lens and a 5MP Tele-macro camera. The device comes with thin bezels.
On the right edge of the smartphone, you will find the volume rocker and power button with the side-mounted fingerprint scanner (which worked extremely fast during the review period) and at the bottom, there is a speaker grille dual stereo speakers setup, USB-C port, and a slot for dual nano-SIM cards.
However, the Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite is not coming with a 3.5 mm jack, which is disappointing because OnePlus Nord CE 5G, on the other hand, has a 3.5 mm jack feature. Connectivity options on the Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite include Wi-Fi, GPS, 4G with sensors including electronic compass, accelerometer, ambient light sensor, gyroscope, proximity sensor, linear motor, IR blaster and more.
Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite Camera Performance
On the rear side of the device, the Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite comes with a powerful triple camera setup with a 64 MP main camera with a large f/1.79 aperture, 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens with 119 degrees of Field of View and a 5MP telemacro camera with f/2.4 aperture. The smartphone also has a 16 MP front camera with an f/2.45 aperture for video calls and selfies.
Like all Xiaomi premium models, the Mi 11 Lite also comes so many in-built camera features. The camera app comes with 23 director modes Mi 11 Lite comes with multiple built-in features such as Magic zoom, parallel world, VLOG mode, and many more and the camera features include Pro Mode, Portrait, Night, 64MP, Slow Motion, Panorama, and Time-Lapse.
While reviewing this device, we tried most of the camera features and I liked Portrait, Pro and 64 MP modes. The camera captured detailed, high-resolution pictures and color pictures in bright lighting conditions. The night mode was good and took some good images in low-light conditions and when we compare it with Nord CE Nightscape mode, this device has produced good results. You can also shoot 4K videos with electronic image stabilization at 30 fps per second with natural colors and a great dynamic range.
Coming to the front camera, this lightweight smartphone from Xiaomi managed to record decent videos and capture sharp and colorful selfies. However, in the low light conditions, the selfie camera lacked sharpness but the overall camera experience both front and rear were excellent.
One of the major USPs of the Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite is its display. Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite comes with a 6.55-inch full HD+ AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate, 10-bit color depth, DCI-P3 support, HDR10 support, and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection on top. The device comes with a camera hole in the top left corner and the bezels of the device are thin around the sides.
The Mi 11 Lite also has an AI Face Unlock feature, which worked fast. The colors came out well on screen, thanks to the AMOLED display. The device ensures a smooth experience while you are scrolling through your feed or playing games. It also comes with 360 degree ambient light sensors, reading mode 3.0 and Sunlight mode 2.0. Overall, the experience with Mi 11 Lite display was pretty good.
In terms of performance, the Mi 11 Lite is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 732G SoC. The device runs Google’s Android 11 operating system with the company’s own MIUI 12.5 skin on top. While playing games like Battlegrounds Mobile India, Garena Free Fire Mobile and Call of Duty: Mobile on Mi 11 Lite, we witnessed lag-free gaming. The graphic quality was good when we played the games mentioned above in the normal settings. Overall, this Xiaomi phone is fast, smooth, switching between multiple social media platforms and applications was smooth.
In terms of battery performance, the Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite is backed by a 4,250mAh battery with support for 33W fast charging. The battery is less than 4,500 mAh and the device laster over 24 hours on the normal usage. While reviewing the Mi 11 Lite, I watched several movies and web series including RAY on Netflix and I didn't face any heating issues, however, the battery drained faster. The overall battery performance was good.
Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite Verdict: The major selling point of this newly launched smartphone from Xiaomi is that the smartphone is ultralight, slim, and loaded with flagship features. And one major point I want to say is - this smartphone is indeed very slim, light, easy to hold, carry, and comes with premium looks. Available at the starting price of 21,999, the Mi 11 Lite is the decent affordable handy smartphone from Xiaomi in the mid-price segment in India. The design and looks of this phone will attract young buyers.
