7th Pay Commission: MACPS Confusion
Under the 7th Pay Commission, the Modified Assured Career Progression Scheme (MACPS) was brought stating that there will be no annual appraisal or increment of those central government employees, whose performance has not been good. The employees of Class III and Class IV are irked over this development as this promotion system will scuttle the promotion of those employees who were not up to the mark.
Harishankar Tiwari stated that employees were expected to get promotions automatically on completing their 10, 20 and 30 years of service. Earlier, there was an Assured Career Progression (ACP) scheme, but with implementation of the 7th Pay Commission, this has been changed to the MACPS. Image source: Reuters
