"The selling was broad-based, as investors are on alert given the rise of oil prices. If crude continues to stay above the 90 USD level, it will be a threat to inflation and boil the operational margins. Globally, US GDP data and the FED chief speech will be watched carefully, which will set the future trend. Currently, the combination of higher interest rates and US bond yields are influencing FIIs to stay in the selling mode."

Larsen & Toubro (L&T) shares scale a 52-week high on Thursday after brokerages UBS and Goldman Sachs raised their price targets for the construction major's stock by up to 18 per cent. The shares of Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) trade 4.54 per cent, or Rs 87.8 higher, at Rs 2,023, on BSE in early morning deals on Thursday (September 28, 2023) a day after the MCX confirmed the Zee Business news that it was shifting to a new trading platform.

“A flat to weak opening is on the cards amid a subdued close for the US markets in overnight trades while sluggishness in most Asian indices would keep local traders on the sidelines. Investors are dealing with too many negatives mostly pertaining to external factors. The rising US bond yields on the back of the firm dollar index have resulted in foreign fund outflows in the month. However, India's structural growth and key indicators would mean that investors cannot be bearish on local markets for long. Technically, the bears are likely to be everywhere as long as Nifty trades below the 19867 mark. Nifty’s biggest intraday support is seen at 19589/19221 marks.”

Tata Power: Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), a subsidiary of Tata Power Company Limited, said on Wednesday that it would set up a 41 MW captive solar plant at Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu, for TP Solar Limited's (TP Solar) new greenfield 4.3 GW solar cell and module manufacturing facility in Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu. "The captive plant will help generate 101 million units of electricity and offset around 72,000 metric tonnes of CO2 emissions annually. The captive solar project will be commissioned 12 months from the signing of the Project Development Agreement," TPREL said in a BSE filing on Wednesday.

Power Grid Corporation: PowerGrid announced on Wednesday that it had acquired Ananthpuram Kurnool Transmission Limited (the Project SPV) to establish the 'Transmission Scheme for Solar Energy Zone in Ananthpuram (Ananthapur) (2500 MW) and Kurnool (1000 MW), Andhra Pradesh. The company said that the acquisition cost of the project is Rs 19.99 crore. "The project comprises the establishment of a new 400/220 kV pooling station at a suitable border location between Ananthpuram and Kurnool (in Andhra Pradesh) and 02 nos. of 400 kV D/C Transmission Lines traversing in the state of Andhra Pradesh and associated bay extension works," PowerGrid said in a statement on Wednesday.

Shipping sector stocks: The government on Wednesday exempted payments made for goods imported through ocean freight from 5 per cent integrated GST, with effect from October 1. The Finance Ministry has notified changes to the IGST Act with regard to the payment of integrated GST on 'ocean freight' on imported goods with effect from October 1. After the decision, shipping stocks such as Adani Ports & SEZ, Shreyas Shipping & Logistics, and Shipping Corporation of India will be in focus. Read more
