In a morning show aired on Zee Business channel, Market Guru and Managing Editor Anil Singhvi said that many brokers are in favour of extension of timings. This, he said, is because they want to increase their trading activities which will benefit their businesses.

The index trading timing should be extended in the same pattern as that of Dow Futures and SGX Nifty, Singhvi said.

Extension of market trading hours figured during a pre-budget meeting which was attended by various brokers and representatives from exchanges.

In a morning show aired on Zee Business channel, Market Guru and Managing Editor Anil Singhvi said that many brokers are in favour of extension of timings. This, he said, is because they want to increase their trading activities which will benefit their businesses.

According to Singhvi, many people think that the trading hours should be extended till 5 pm. However, there are people who feel that the entire trading hours should not be extended and that only index trading hours should be extended.

The index trading timing should be extended in the same pattern as that of Dow Futures and SGX Nifty, Singhvi said. This shall give investors the opportunity to enter and exit if there is any major change in the global markets, he added.

Singhvi suggested that if the index trading time is extended till 8 pm, then the Indian market will be synced with European and US markets.

As per Singhvi, there are possibilities that the index trading timings can be extended as India has strong technology, banking and margin regulations by the Securities Exchange Board of India (SEBI).

He said that the matter is not linked to the budget but should be discussed among exchanges and brokers.

Anil Singhvi also tweeted about this asking people if index trading time should be extended.
