The Indian markets end Friday’s session on a negative note after opening in the green and at life high levels. Both Nifty50 and BSE Sensex slip from record highs to close with a minor cut, while Mid-cap mildly outperforms benchmark indices at the close today.
The benchmark indices BSE Sensex closed over 19 points or 0.04 per cent lower to 53140.06, while Nifty fell almost 1 point or 0.01 per cent to 15923.4 at the close today.

In broader markets, the mid-cap index grew by almost 100 points or 0.35 per cent to 27851.20, while Nifty Bank slumped by over 155 points or 0.43 per cent to 35751.8 levels today at the market close.
Out of 50 scrips on the Nifty50, 23 advanced, 26 declined and one remained unchanged at the close. Divis Lab surged most at close by almost 3.5 percent, followed by Bharti Airtel up near 3 per cent amid AGR hearing is scheduled for Monday.
While UltraTech Cement, Tata Steel each surged over 1.5 per cent, and Power Grid each soared over 1 per cent at the market close on the last day of the week.
Nifty heavyweights that surged most this week are: Wipro near 10 per cent, L&T almost 8 per cent, UltraTech Cement over 6 per cent, Tech Mahindra and Grasim almost 5 per cent.
On the other hand, HCL Tech was the biggest laggard at the close today as the counter tumbled over 3 per cent leading to the decline of the market, followed by Eicher Motor down almost 2 per cent and Infosys fell almost 1.5 per cent after being positive for the last two sessions amid strong Q1 numbers.
Nifty heavyweights that declined most this week are: Adani ports around 5.5 per cent, Eicher Motors 3.5 per cent, BPCL around 2 per cent, Maruti Suzuki and Bajaj Auto each by 1.6 per cent
The sectoral indices got equally divided themselves between rise and fall, as six sectors declined while five gained in the negative market. Banking and financials indices plunged most, led by Nifty Bank and Nifty Private Bank. While Nifty Pharma, Metal, and Realty grew most by over 1 per cent.
