UPSC Civil Services 2019: As the registration process for taking preliminary examination of UPSC Civil Services 2019 and Indian Forest Service (IFS) Exam 2019 has already begun, a good news has come for the aspirants belonging to general category. UPSC has announced that candidates will be able to avail of the recently introduced 10% quota for upper-caste poor from this year’s civil services exam. However, there is confusion over its implementation as the government is yet to issue the requisite income and assets certificates.

According to the UPSC notification, the examination (March 18) will guide recruitment to the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), the Indian Police Service (IPS), the Indian Foreign Service (IFS) and over 20 other Group-A government jobs. Interested candidates can now register themselves for both the Exams on or before March 18, 2019 as the prelims is scheduled to take place on June 2, 2019.

According to reports, candidates claiming reservation need to posses certificates dated earlier than the closing date of applications for the preliminary examination i.e March 18. For the EWS category, a one-time exception has been made to allow certificates dated before August 1, 2019, when the applications for the main examination will be submitted.

Since the certificates will be issued by respectives states, candidates taking the exams are sceptical as they fear they won't be able to get the requisite certificate by the time main exams will be held.

Notably, candidates who will qualify the prelims will be able to take the main exams, which will be conducted in later part of the year. Those who will qualify the mains will have to appear for an interview. The main exams is likely to be begin from December 1, 2019.

Eligibility Criteria: Interested candidates for UPSC Civil Services Prelims 2019 must have graduation degree from any recognised university.

How to apply: Candidates should submit their online application on the UPSC's official website-website-upsconline.nic.in prior to the last date of March 18, 2019.

Age Limit: Aspirants should be in the age group of 21 to 32 years. The age relaxation norms will be implemented as per the government norms.

Exams Pattern: The Civil Services Examination will be held in the three stages of: (i) Preliminary Examination (Objective type) to select candidates for the Main Examination, (ii) Civil Services (Main) Examination (Written), followed by an Interview to select the candidates for various Services and posts.
