Raid box office collection: Ajay Devgn, Ileana D'Cruz power earnings to Rs 10.04 cr

Raid box office collection: Actors Ajay Devgn and Ileana D'Cruz have managed to power the movie's earnings to as much as Rs 10.04 crore and that too during exam season in India. Yes, that is a big surprise! Devgn is an icon for the youth and his movie Raid has released in the middle of the month when the entire nation's students are busy taking exams. That would definitely have hurt the earnings of the movie. Nevertheless, the film has moved into double digit figures and the returns are bound to increase over the weekend due to the holidays. The day 1 earnings of Raid will come in as a big relief to the filmmakers as the collections news was not good initially. It was reported that the occupancy rate at theatres was as low as 20 pct in the morning. However, it is evident that the rest of the shows managed to haul the movie's earnings up towards much better levels. Raid has been released across 3400 screens in India.

What must have helped Raid collections was the fact that most of the reviews were good and the most that anyone was against was that it was a lengthy film. This in turn will most definitely provide a much better word of mouth boost for the movie over the rest of its run. And no, the movoe that is currently in theatres is not likely to pose any kind of challenge to Ajay Devgn. We re talking about Hate Story IV that earned Rs 20.04 cr, Pari that earned Rs 27.05 crore and Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety that earned a surprising 94.91 crore.

Significantly, Raid collection has been high enough to make it the third highest opening day grosser of 2018, thereby beating Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety, which had earned Rs 6.42 cr. In fact, Raid came very close to beating Akshay Kumar starrer Pad Man, which had earned Rs 10.26 cr. However, it was far away from Padmaavat that mananged to collect Rs 24 cr.
