The Nifty 50 finally gave away its breath and tumbled below 11,000-mark. The 51-scrip index since last one week has been trying to retain this mark. But today, nothing was working in favor of this index. The Nifty 50 ended at 10,974.90 below a massive 168.20 points or 1.51%. The index saw 41 scrip declines while only 9 advances. The quantum of drop is Nifty was hefty. One reason for the panic on Nifty 50 to a massive 339 stocks touching new low. This indicates how much investors are having lack of faith in this benchmark indices. If you have invested in mentioned below stocks, then there were no fruits over your investment today.
Nifty Auto stocks were the major loser by tumbling 3.72% ending at 10,020.30. Some known stocks in this sector which touched new lows were Maruti Suzuki with a 52-week low of Rs 7,590.70, however, it ended at Rs 7,793.10 per piece down by Rs 247.05 or 3.07%. Motherson Sumi was another stock which ended at Rs 255.50 per piece down Rs 20 or 7.26% after touching an all-time low of Rs 250.10.
After auto, it was banking stocks which saw no love from investors, as the Nifty Bank finished at 24,970.35 down 2.45%. Banks which touched new low were - Central Bank of India, Karur Vysya Bank, Allahabad Bank and Yes Bank.
Talking about Yes Bank, the board members will be meeting tomorrow for deciding future course of the bank after when RBI decided to give less than 5 months to chief Rana Kapoor as MD & CEOs.
Other known stocks that touched new lows were Dhanuka Agritech, Eicher Motors, Godrej Properties, Edelweiss Financial Services, Jaiprakash Associates, Manapurram Finance, PNB Housing Finance and Tribhovandas Bhimji Zaveri Limited.
