Indian Railways passengers can now enjoy WiFi connectivity at 3,000 stations
The Indian Railways has enhanced the pace of installing Wi-Fi services at railway stations across the country. Number of Wi-Fi-equipped railway stations has crossed the 3,000 mark, as another 56 stations were connected with the technology. This will provide passengers to use the internet at railway stations at faster speed. RailTel, the Mini Ratna under the Ministry of Railways, is the provider of high-speed and free ‘RailWire’ WiFi service at Railway stations across the country.
RailTel installed Wi-Fi services at 1,000 stations across India in mere 15 days time. "Number of Wi-Fi-equipped railway stations has breached the unprecedented 3,000 mark as another 56 stations were connected yesterday. Free Wi-Fi is helping passengers stay connected to their loved ones even while travelling. Check the list of new stations: http://bit.ly/WiFi18Aug19," tweeted Railway Minister Piyush Goyal today.
"3000 Railway stations across the country now have free Railwire Wi-Fi. Ellenabad Railway station, over North Western Railway, is the 3000th station to have free public Wi-Fi. 1000 stations across India have been enabled with Wi-Fi in mere 15 days time," The Ministry of Railways twitted.
How to use RailWire free high-speed WiFi at Indian Railways stations?
1. The user has to switch on the WiFi mode on the smartphone and select the RailWire WiFi network.
2. It will automatically direct the user to the RailWire homepage.
3. The has to enter the mobile number. The user will get one-time password (OTP) in the form of an SMS in the box which
4. The user has to enter to be able to access to the high-speed internet and start browsing.
This will help users to use the internet at even remote stations. The initiative was taken by the Indian Railway, which is in line with the Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Digital India programme.
