Lok Sabha elections 2019: The first phase of Lok Sabha polls 2019 concluded Thursday with record turnout in some areas. Six more phases of polls are yet to be held. For healthy democracy, it is important for citizens to vote. At the same time, it is also important to vote smartly. This can be done by knowing all the details of candidates in the fray. The Election Commission makes this easy with the help of a mobile app. The poll panels' 'Voter Helpline' app helps you can make an informed choice.  "Taking forward its continuous efforts of building an active democratic citizenry in the country, Election Commission of India has undertaken a new initiative by designing a Mobile Application for developing a culture of avid electoral engagement and making informed and ethical ballot decisions among citizens of the country," reads the description of the app on Google Play Store.

"The app aims to provide a single point of service and information delivery to voters across the country," it adds.

The Voter Helpline app provides the following information: 

1. Electoral Search to verify name in the electoral roll

2. Online forms submission for New Voter Registration, shifting to a different constituency. 

3. For Overseas Voters, Deletion or Objection in the electoral roll, correction of entries and transposition within Assembly.

4.Registration of complaints related to electoral services and track its disposal status.

5. Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) on voter, elections, EVM and results

6. Service and resources for voters and electoral officers.

In the polling concluded Thursday, West Bengal recorded a polling percentage of 81 per cent while Bihar recorded 50 per cent voter turnout.
