Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corp (IRCTC) has decided to strengthen its foothold in the aviation sector by offering best airfares in major airlines like Jet Airways, Air India and Air Vistara. The Indian Railways catering service provider has now taken one step ahead in luring air passengers to travel with them. Apart from low convenience fees, this time IRCTC is providing free insurance service to its customers which is worth Rs 50 lakh.

If you plan to book an air ticket, here are some facts you should remember.
Jet Airways (9W), Air India (AI) and Air Vistara (UK) are offered as full service airlines. They offer full services including free in-flight meals. Low Cost Carriers presently include SpiceJet (SG), IndiGo (6E), GoAir (G8) and Air Asia(I5). Low cost Carriers are known for their lower fares and the exclusion of services such as free in-flight meals.
An airline PNR is the Passenger Name Record, and is the reference for the particular booking that is logged in the Airline Reservation System. The airlines will be able to assist you with the help of this number.
At the moment, a maximum of 7 people can be included in the same ticket. For making a bulk or group booking, contact airlines.
Hold reservation is not possible through the website. At the moment, the website does not allow open ended bookings.
For payment, options like Credit Cards: Visa/MasterCard, Net Banking, Paymate Pay Through Mobile and UPI is available.
Meal requests can be provided while making the booking. However, the same cannot be guaranteed as it is subject to availability. This feature is available only for Full Service Carriers.
Note that all cancellations have to be done at least 6 hours prior to the flight departure time.
Cancellation charges are as per the Airline rules and policies; these are mentioned in the Voucher for your reference. Additionally IRCTC cancellation charges of Rs 250 per passenger per sector will be charged in addition to the above charges.
The refund will be processed in 7 working days from the time of cancellation; it would take additional 4-5 working days for the bank to credit it into your account.
