COVID-19 Update: India's new Covid cases rise 6.8% to 1.67 lakh

A further 1,008 Covid fatalities occurred during the same period, bringing the nationwide death toll to 4,98,983.
At 15,33,921, the active caseload represents 3.67 per cent of the country's total positive cases.
Over the last 24 hours, 2,59,107 patients have recovered, raising the cumulative total to 3,97,70,414. Therefore, India's recovery rate stands at 95.41 per cent.
In the same period, 15,69,449 tests were conducted throughout the country, bringing the total to 73.41 crore.
The weekly positivity rate was 12.98%, whereas the daily positivity rate was 10.99%.
As of Thursday morning, India's Covid inoculation coverage reached 167.87 crore after more than 55 lakh vaccine doses were administered in the last 24 hours.
The states and UTs still have 11.07 crore unutilised and balance Covid vaccine doses.
