The decision has been taken for the benefit of people and tourists, who can visit and appreciate the beauty of such historical sites for long hours.

The Culture Ministry has expended the visiting hours at 10 historical monuments till 9 p.m. These are the 10 popular monuments in India, including Delhi's Safdarjung Tomb and Humayun's Tomb. An official statement quoted Culture and Tourism Minister Prahlad Singh Patel as announcing the extended hours. The earlier visiting hours were 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

The decision has been taken for the benefit of people and tourists, who can visit and appreciate the beauty of such historical sites for long hours.

The monuments include

1. Rajarani Temple Complex (Odisha)
2. Dulhadeo Temple and Khajuraho (Madhya Pradesh)
3. Sheikh Chilli Tomb (Haryana)
4. Safdarjung Tomb (Delhi)
5. Humayuna Tomb (Delhi)
6. The Group of Monuments at Pattadakal and Gol Gumbaz (Karnataka)
7. Group of Temples, Markanda, Chamursi (Maharashtra)
8. Man Mahal, Vaidhshala (Uttar Pradesh)
9. Rani Ki Vav (Gujarat)

According to the Ministry, the new timings could be extended for some other historical monuments in the country as well.
