Odisha set to get second airport today, PM Narendra Modi to inaugurate Jharsuguda Airport

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be launching a slew of projects including a fertiliser plant at Talcher and Jharsuguda Airport in Odisha today.

On the new airport in Jharsuguda, officials said, it has been developed for all weather operations including night operations for A-320 type aircraft.

Jharsuguda will be the second airport of Odisha to become operational and provide connectivity to Bhubaneswar, Raipur and Ranchi under the government's UDAN scheme.

Jharsuguda Airport is all set to provide smooth air connectivity under 'Ude Desh Ka Aam Naagrik' (UDAN) scheme. This airport will meet the long-standing demands for air-connectivity to the Western Odisha region, said AAI in a tweet.

Jharsuguda Airport has the peak hour handling capacity of 300 passengers. The terminal building is equipped with Solar Power System, LED lighting, Rainwater harvesting to recharge the groundwater table followed with many more sustainable features, it said.
