Automobile Sales in November 2021: Automakers globally have been forced to make sharp production cuts this year as supply chain disruptions and booming demand for consumer electronics have led to an acute shortage of semiconductors, as per a Reuters report. The November 2021 sales report across various auto manufacturing companies in India has recorded a decline. However,Tata Motors said its total sales increased by 25 per cent to 62,192 units in November as compared to the same month last year.Let us take a look at the November 2021 sales figures of the companies:

Maruti Suzuki

Maruti Suzuki

The country's largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki India on Wednesday reported 9 per cent decline in total sales at 1,39,184 units in November with electronic components shortage impacting production reported PTI. The company had sold a total of 1,53,223 units in the same month last year, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd (MSIL) said in a statement. Total domestic sales were down 18 per cent at 1,17,791 units last month as compared to 1,44,219 units in November 2020. "The shortage of electronic components had a minor impact on the production of vehicles during the month. The shortage primarily affected the production of vehicles sold in the domestic market. The company took all possible measures to minimise the impact," the MSIL said. The mini segment comprising Alto and S-Presso clocked 17,473 units as against 22,339 units in the same month last year. Sales of compact cars consisting of Baleno, Celerio, Dzire, Ignis, Swift, TourS and WagonR were at 57,019 units as against 76,630 units in the year-ago month. Mid-sized sedan Ciaz clocked 1,089 units last month as compared to 1,870 units in November 2020, the company said. However, sales of utility vehicles including Ertiga, Gypsy, S-Cross, Vitara Brezza and XL6 were higher at 24,574 units as against 23,753 units in the same month last year, it added. Mahindra and Mahindra

Mahindra and Mahindra

Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) on Wednesday reported a 6 per cent decline in total sales at 40,102 units in November. The company had sold 42,731 units in November 2020, M&M said in a statement. In the domestic market, passenger vehicle sales were up 7 per cent to 19,458 units last month, compared to 18,212 units in November 2020. In the commercial vehicles segment, the company sold 17,543 vehicles in the domestic market last month, as against 22,883 units in November 2020, a drop of 23 per cent. Exports increased by 90 per cent to 3,101 units last month as against 1,636 units in the year-ago month. "Our growth in SUVs continues with an 8 per cent increase in the month of November. The demand remains strong across our product portfolio of SUVs, pickups, and small commercial vehicles," M&M Chief Executive Officer Automotive Division Veejay Nakra said. Furthermore, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd on Wednesday reported a 15 per cent decline in total tractor sales at 27,681 units in November 2021.  As per a PTI report, MG Motor India on Wednesday reported a 40 per cent decline in retail sales to 2,481 units in November 2021, as the production was adversely impacted by the ongoing semiconductor shortage.The company had clocked retail sales of 4,163 units in the same month last year. "Enduring the industry challenges of global semiconductor chip shortage, which has severely constrained the production levels, MG Motor is continuously working towards delivering to customers their much-awaited MG cars on time," the company said in a statement. Bajaj Auto on Wednesday reported a 10 per cent decline in its total wholesales at 3,79,276 units in November 2021, as per a PTI report. The company had dispatched 4,22,240 units in the same month a year ago. Domestic sales last month fell 20 per cent to 1,58,755 units against 1,98,933 units in November last year, Bajaj Auto said in a statement. The total two-wheeler sales slipped 12 per cent to 3,38,473 units compared to 3,84,993 units sold in the year-ago period. However, the total commercial vehicle sales increased by 10 per cent to 40,803 units from 37,247 units in the same month last year, the company said. The total exports last month, however, witnessed a marginal decline of 1 per cent to 2,20,521 units against 2,23,307 units sold in the corresponding month last year, it added. Source: Reuters

A PTI report informed that farm machinery and construction equipment major Escorts Ltd on Wednesday reported a 30 per cent decline in total tractor sales at 7,116 units in November 2021. The company had sold 10,165 units in the same month last year, Escorts said in a regulatory filing. Domestic tractor sales were down 32.8 per cent at 6,492 units last month, as compared to 9,662 units in November 2020, it added. However, exports were up 24.1 per cent at 624 units in November, as against 503 units in the year-ago month, the company said. "Delayed harvest of Kharif crops owing to late monsoon rains this year affected the rural cash flows and hence the retail demand. This we believe is a temporary phenomenon and cash flows should start improving soon as Kharif harvest gets fully monetised," Escorts said. Source: escorts.com

As per PTI, TVS Motor Company on Wednesday reported a 15 per cent decline in total sales at 2,72,693 units for November 2021. The company had sold 3,22,709 units in the same month last year, TVS Motor said in a regulatory filing. The total two-wheelers sales stood at 2,57,863 units last month, against 3,11,519 units in November 2020, down 17 per cent, it added. Domestic two-wheeler sales stood at 1,75,940 units in November 2021 compared to 2,47,789 units in the same month last year, a decline of 29 per cent. Motorcycle sales were at 1,40,097 units as against 1,33,531 units in the year-ago month. Scooter sales stood at 75,022 units compared to 1,06,196 units in November 2020, the company said. Three-wheeler sales last month grew 33 per cent to 14,830 units from 11,190 units a year ago, it added. TVS Motor said its exports surged 30 per cent to 96,000 units last month compared to 74,074 units in the year-ago period. Hyundai Motor India on Wednesday reported a 21 per cent decline in total sales to 46,910 units in November, as per a PTI report. The company had sold 59,200 units in the same month last year, HMIL said in a statement. Domestic sales were down 24 per cent to 37,001 units, against 48,800 units in November 2020, the company added. Exports declined 5 per cent to 9,909 units, compared to 10,400 units in November last year. The sales in November have been affected on account of the ongoing semiconductor shortage situation, the company stated. PTI reported that Eicher Motors Ltd on Wednesday said its joint venture with Volvo VECV posted a 10.1 per cent increase in total sales at 4,085 units in November 2021. VE Commercial Vehicles Ltd (VECV), an unlisted subsidiary, had sold 3,710 units in the same month last year, Eicher Motors said in a regulatory filing. Eicher trucks and busses sales grew 3.1 per cent to 3,184 units last month against 3,088 units in November 2020. Exports of Eicher brand of commercial vehicles stood at 783 units, compared to 473 units in the year-ago month, a growth of 65.5 per cent, the company said. As per PTI, Tata Motors said its total sales increased by 25 per cent to 62,192 units in November as compared to the same month last year. The company had dispatched 49,650 units in November 2020. The automaker posted a 21 per cent increase in its domestic wholesales at 58,073 as compared with 47,859 units in the year-ago period. The auto major said its passenger vehicle sales in the domestic market stood at 29,778 units in November, as compared to 21,641 units in the same month last year.
