Ather Energy Factory: Electric two-wheeler maker Ather Energy on Wednesday inaugurated its second plant at Hosur, Tamil Nadu. The startup company now has two separate facilities in Hosur to produce vehicles and batteries, respectively.

It is currently selling two electric scooters -- 450X and the 450 Plus. Hosur factory will produce both of these scooters.

"By the end of next financial year, we will be running out of capacity here (Hosur). Somewhere around the similar time frame, we will be looking at having the new plant," Ather Energy co-founder and CTO Swapnil Jain told PTI in an interaction.

The new Hosur plant will be able to produce 4 lakh 20 thousand electric scooters every year. Ather will produce a scooter every 40 seconds.

The new facility has one unit dedicated to battery production and another to vehicle assembly. The battery unit will have five assembly lines and the vehicle assembly will have two assembly lines.

Ather Energy Future Plans

The startup company is also planning to enter the electric bike segment soon. It has made preparations to enter the market with several models in the next three to five years. Ather Energy is also planning to launch new variants soon in the e-scooter segment. The company will launch new scooters on the basis of price and model.
