The launch date for Tata Harrier, which is probably the most awaited SUV from the company's stable, is set for January 23, 2019, but only for the 5-seater variant coming, according to Autocar India report that cited Tata Motors chief, who has also confirmed that the Harrier's 7-seater variant will also be unveiled this year only. Speaking to Autocar, Tata Motors' CEO & MD, Guenter Butschek, said that Harrier's bigger version will be part of a “firework of launches in calendar year 2019,” making it clear that a lot more can be expected from the auto major.
The 7-seat Harrier will be based on the D8 platform which underpins the Discovery Sport, and its wheelbase is expected to be the same 2,741 mm, while the car's overall length will be increased by 62 mm for making space for the third row of seats, said Autocar, adding that rear styling could also change to accommodate larger glass windows.
Further, the report said that 7-seater Harrier is likely to be launched with a different name to keep itself apart from the smaller version. The Harrier is expected to come with a price tag in the range of Rs 16-21 lakh, therefore, it is expected that the bigger version will come in the premium price segment.
