Mahindra unveils Global Pik Up Concept with Level-2ADAS and semi-automatic parking: Check design, safety, tech features

Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd showcased its new Global Pik Up concept at the company's Futurescape event in Cape Town, South Africa, on Tuesday, 15th August. As per the automaker, the Global Pik Up concept is based on the "Tough & Versatile New Gen Ladder Frame" platform and it promises to be one of the market's most versatile and capable pickups when it goes into production. 

Mahindra Global Pik Up Concept: Talking points 

Platform: The Global Pik Up (Project Code Z121) is based on the "Tough & Versatile New Gen Ladder Frame" platform. It is engineered to deliver performance, safety, utility, and robust capability.

Design: The Global Pik Up concept has been designed at Mahindra India Design Studio (MIDS), to reflect Mahindra's interpretation of an authentic lifestyle pickup. Its exterior is built to withstand demanding conditions, while its interior is kitted to offer comfort and ample space.

Safety: As per Mahindra, when launched, the Global Pik Up will be a 5-Star rated vehicle with Level-2ADAS, Trailer Sway Mitigation, All-Around Airbag Protection, Drowsy Driver Detection, 5G Connectivity, among other safety features.

Technology: The company says that the Global Pik Up concept has been developed to match varied lifestyle requirements — from daily commuting to adventure trips. And the experience is further enhanced with drive modes, an immersive audio experience, semi-automatic parking, a sunroof, among other crature comforts.

With its substantial cargo bed and commendable towing capacity, the company says that the Global Pik Up offers a practical solution for diverse tasks.

Commenting on the latest offering from the company's stables, Veejay Nakra, President – Automotive Sector of Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., said, "The new Global Pik Up marks a significant step in Mahindra's Go-Global Strategy. Talking about the futuristic design of the pickup truck, Pratap Bose, Chief Design Officer of Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., said that the Global Pik Up’s rugged, dependable, and purposeful appearance appeals universally, reflecting a desire for adventure and exploration. "The satin-finish titanium-gold paint highlights the vehicle's ultra-durable New Gen Ladder Frame platform, embodying the ‘GO FAR’ aspirations that define this Mahindra Pik Up. Its versatility and capability, enriched by cutting-edge technologies, signal a transformative shift in what a lifestyle pickup can be," Bose added.
