World Test Championship 2023-25: Team India’s full schedule for the next WTC cycle
Team India will begin its next World Test Championship cycle with a two-match series against the West Indies. The first Test begins on July 12.
Team India suffered a crushing defeat in the final of the World Test Championship (WTC) last week. Pat Cummins-led Australia steamrolled India by 209 runs at The Oval. Rohit Sharma’s men came up short in both departments – batting and bowling. Skipper Rohit failed with the bat and could not lead from the front either. Shubman Gill appeared to be overwhelmed with the occasion and was found wanting against the Aussie pace battery. Virat Kohli scored a gritty 49 in the fourth innings, but he failed to come up with a match-winning knock. Cheteshwar Pujara, India's mainstay at the top of the batting order in Tests, could not bat for long hours and he failed in both innings.
Team India might have missed out on securing the Test mace in the 2021-23 cycle, but Rohit Sharma and Co are already looking forward to the next edition of the WTC. India will begin its third WTC cycle with a two-match series against the West Indies. Skipper Rohit Sharma is under tremendous pressure and needs a big knock against the Caribbean opponents. Virat Kohli will also be keen to score heavily against West Indies.
The first Test of the series will be held at Dominica’s Windsor Park and will start from July 12. Following the conclusion of the Tests, India and West Indies will be involved in a three-match ODI series. India will look to make full use of the ODI series ahead of the 50-over World Cup. After the ODIs, India will take on West Indies in a five-match T20I series.
