India’s wholesale price inflation rose to a nine-month high in January, led by higher prices of food items and manufactured goods, even as fuel inflation remained in contraction, data released by the Reserve Bank of India-watched system showed.

WPI inflation hits nine-month high at 1.81% in January as metal, food prices rise

This comes as a surprise to markets experts, as many believed that the WPI numbers would be slightly over 3% for the month.&nbsp;

WPI inflation eases further to 2.84% in January 2018; manufacturing growth at 2.78%

&nbsp;WPI inflation in December 2017 was at 3.58%, lower 3.93% to November 2017, and higher 2.10% in comparison with the same period a year ago.

India’s wholesale price inflation rose to a nine-month high in January, led by higher prices of food items and manufactured goods, even as fuel inflation remained in contraction, data released by the Reserve Bank of India-watched system showed.
 

This comes as a surprise to markets experts, as many believed that the WPI numbers would be slightly over 3% for the month. 

 WPI inflation in December 2017 was at 3.58%, lower 3.93% to November 2017, and higher 2.10% in comparison with the same period a year ago.
