Seized narcotics worth Rs 4 crore destroyed in Tripura

Large quantity of seized narcotic substances and contraband were destroyed by authorities in West Tripura district on January 21. Seized narcotic substances were worth around Rs 4 crores which included marijuana, Yaba tablets, Spasmo Proxyvon including heroin and other substances. All these items were seized from eight districts of Tripura. Disposal of drugs is a frequent process in Tripura so that there is no outflow of drugs from the godowns.

Violence is parts of Tripura and Assam over CAB

The Citizenship (Amendment) Bill or CAB, which grants Indian citizenship to the non-Muslims of Afghanistan, Pakistan and Bangladesh, was passed by the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday. The Citizenship (Amendment) Bill will now go to the President for his assent. After the violent protest in Tripura and Assam over the bill the air and railway services have been barred.

Municipal body conducts massive anti-encroachment drive in Tripura’s Agartala

Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) conducted a massive anti-encroachment drive on Wednesday to make the city clean and free for uninterrupted movement of traffic and people. Municipal Commissioner Shailesh Kumar Yadav said, "All roads and footpaths are being made free from encroachment done by shopkeepers who have made temporary or permanent structures on them, thus interrupting the movement of people." He also added that the drive is not targeting street vendors as they are protected under the Tripura Street Vendors Act. The municipal corporation is also getting the required support from law enforcement agencies in this drive.
