Amid the destruction caused by Cyclone Michaung in Tamil Nadu, Chief Minister MK Stalin on Wednesday wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking an immediate interim relief fund of Rs 5060 crores. Tamil Nadu CM also inspected the cyclone-affected areas on Wednesday morning. Cyclone Michaung barrelled into the southern Indian coast on December 5 with intense winds, its arrival preceded by torrential rains and flooding that killed at least 13 people, as officials assessed the damage. Trees were uprooted and at least 25 villages were inundated as the cyclone traversed northwards and authorities evacuated more than 15,000 people to safety ahead of landfall.
