National Saving Time Desposit Account (TD), or Post Office FD, is a one-time investment guaranteed return scheme where one gets returns in the form of interest. Post office runs FDs of one-, two-three- and five-year durations. The five-year FD is also known as income tax saving FD as it provides tax relxation of up to Rs 1.50 lakh under Section 80C of the Income Tax Act.

There is a big update regarding the guaranteed scheme for investors. If someone has invested money in the guaranteed return scheme of the broker and later the money gets stuck, then the exchange will not give compensation. Even if a deal is not done on the platform of the exchange itself. The Securities Appellate Tribunal (SAT), while giving a decision in a case, said that giving guaranteed returns is against SEBI, exchange rules. The client is not relieved of the exchange on the Guaranteed Return Scheme.
