Share Market HIGHLIGHTS: Domestic equity benchmarks Nifty50 and Sensex on Tuesday, October 17, edged higher amid broad-based buying and a rebound in global stocks. Moderation in oil prices, too, aided sentiment.
S&P BSE Sensex ended 261.16 points, or 0.39 per cent higher at 66,428.09, and Nifty finished 79.75 points, or 0.4 per cent, at 19,811.5. In the broader market, the Nifty Mid Cap 100 and Small Cap 100 ended in positive territory. Nifty Bank was up 0.42 per cent at 44,409.5.

Shilpa Rout of Prabhudas Lilladher believes the Nifty is looking positive, with a strong texture, going by its intraday gains this morning. A breakout above crucial resistance at 19,850 will likely be followed by quick moves towards the 19950-20,000 band.
One can participate in the upmove by buying the 19,900 call option at Rs 37-odd levels for a price target of Rs 70 with a stop loss at Rs 20, she says.

Tata Metaliks, a Tata group company that operates in the manufacturing and sale of pig iron and ductile iron pipes, reports a net profit of Rs 44 crore for the September quarter, as against a net profit of Rs 14 crore for the corresponding period a year ago.
Its revenue, however, shrinks 13.9 per cent on a year-on-year basis to Rs 755 crore, according to a regulatory filing.
The company's margin comes in at 12 per cent for the second quarter of the current financial year, as against 4.7 per cent for the year-ago period.
The Tata Metaliks stock gains by as much as Rs 53.4, or 5.6 per cent, to touch a 52-week high of Rs 1,003.5 apiece on BSE, surpassing a recent peak of Rs 1,000 scaled last month.

Avinash Gorakssakar of Profitmart Securities is positive on Bank of Maharashtra shares from a medium-term perspective, citing the lender's strong Q2 results. He says that steady credit growth to the tune of 12-13 per cent should aid balance sheet expansion for the bank.
Gorakssakar has placed his target for the stock at Rs 58-60 with a view of 8-12 months.

HDFC Bank shares take centre stage on Dalal Street after the country's largest private sector lender staged a mixed performance for the quarter ended September 30, 2023. The HDFC Bank stock gain by as much as Rs 28.5, or 1.9 per cent, to Rs 1,558 apiece on BSE. The lender registered strong growth in net interest income (NII) as it posted a 51 per cent year-on-year jump in consolidated net profit, driven by other income and a decline in provisions, but took a hit in terms of asset quality as its non-performing assets (NPAs) increased sequentially.
