Forex Market Update | Rupee off record lows, at 83.34 vs dollar 

The rupee (INR) strengthens by six paise to settle at 83.34 against the US dollar (USD) amid positive sentiment in the domestic equity market and foreign fund inflows.

Weakness in the greenback overseas and easing crude prices supported the rupee, according to forex traders.

Closing Bell | Sensex up 204 pts, Nifty 10 pts shy of 19,900 as market halts two-day losing streak; Tata Motors jumps 4%

The Nifty50 gains 95 points, or 0.5 per cent, for the day to end at 19,889.7 and the leaner, 30-scrip Sensex gauge settles at 66,174.2, up 204.2 points, or 0.3 per cent, from its previous close—their highest closing levels since September 20 and October 17, respectively.

Share Market Today LIVE | Buy Britannia shares on dips, says Sumeet Bagadia

Sumeet Bagadia of Choice Broking expects strong moves in the Britannia stock in the short term.

He suggests adopting a 'buy on dips' strategy on the FMCG stock for immediate targets of Rs 4,750 and Rs 4,800 followed by Rs 5,000 in the following days, with a stop loss at rs 4,625.

Britannia shares have outperformed the market as well as the FMCG basket in the recent past. 

The stock has gained 5.7 per cent in five days as against gains of 0.5 per cent and 0.2 per cent in the headline Nifty50 index and the sectoral Nifty FMCG index, respectively.

UBS raised its target, by Rs 250 to Rs 4,200, after the development while maintaining its 'neutral' rating for the Eicher Motors stock.

Share Market Today LIVE | Maruti Suzuki shares gain after auto major announces price hikes 

The stock of Maruti Suzuki India, the country's largest carmaker, gain by as much as Rs 38.8, or 0.4 per cent, to Rs 10,556.9 apiece on BSE. 

On Monday, the day Dalal Street assumed a holiday for Guru Nanak Jayanti, Maruti Suzuki said it planned to increase the prices across its cars in January 2024 citing "increased cost pressure driven by overall inflation and increased commodity prices".

"While the Company makes maximum efforts to reduce cost and offset the increase, it may have to pass on some increase to the market," Maruti Suzuki said. 

It also said that the price hikes will vary across models.

Share Market Today LIVE | Asian equities stage mixed moves as traders brace for inflation data

Equities across Asia are a mixed bag this morning, though skewed towards positive territory, as investors remain convinced the Fed is done with its rate-hike cycle, and look ahead to a crucial inflation report later this week.
