Share Market HIGHLIGHTS: Indian equity benchmarks Nifty 50 and Sensex finished a choppy session higher on Monday — extending gains to a third straight day, as the Indian stock market entered a three-session, holiday-truncated week on account of Mahavir Jayanti and Good Friday holidays. Auto stocks — from the likes of Maruti Suzuki, Tata Motors, Royal Enfield parent Eicher Motors and Hero Motocorp — were in focus as the companies reported their monthly sales reports.
The RBI's Monetary Policy Committee — the central bank's all-powerful panel that decides benchmark interest rates for the country — began a three-day bi-monthly review on Monday. Is another RBI rate hike on the cards? All eyes are on a key rate decision by the RBI, due on Thursday.
Indian financial markets will resume trading next on Wednesday.
Globally, equities continued to secure cautious gains, led by banking shares as investors began to digest the sudden collapse of Silicon Valley Bank (SVB) and Signature Bank that rocked the global markets over the past few weeks.

European shares were up on Monday after ending a volatile quarter higher, as oil heavyweights rallied after a surprise announcement by OPEC+ to cut production further lifted crude prices.
However, the gains were limited by a rise in U.S. and European bond yields that led to technology shares falling 0.7 per cent, as a jump in oil prices stoked fears of persistent inflation.
The pan-European STOXX 600 index rose 0.1 per cent in the first trading session of the new quarter.
