Share Market HIGHLIGHTS | M&M, Apollo Hospitals, Power Grid rise most in 50-scrip blue-chip basket

M&M, Apollo Hospitals, Power Grid and Tata Motors are among the top gainers in the Nifty basket, trading with gains of around 5-2 per cent. On the other hand, Eicher Motors, HDFC Life, Maruti Suzuki and HCL Tech are among the top losers, down nearly 3-1 per cent.

Eicher Motors shares remain under pressure for the third straight session on Thursday, July 6, amid a significant increase in competition. The stock trades 2.29 per cent lower at Rs 3,234.2 on the BSE. It hit a low of Rs 3,207.55 during the trade.

Meanwhile, HDFC Securities has downgraded the stock to REDUCE from ADD with a target price of Rs 3,086 from Rs 3,310 earlier. The brokerage said that aggressive competition will hurt Eicher Motors' flagship unit, Royal Enfield's, growth. Read more

Shares of KEC International hit a new record high of Rs 604.35, rising 4.97% against the previous close of Rs 575.70 on BSE. RPG group firm KEC International, which is into infrastructure as an EPC player, has secured new orders worth Rs 1,042 crore from the Railways and its maiden international order for a signaling & telecommunication project. It has also secured an order in the metals & mining segment and transmission & distribution orders from India, the Middle East, Europe and the US. KEC has a presence in power transmission and distribution, Railways, civil, urban infrastructure, solar, smart infrastructure, oil & gas pipelines, and cables.

Share Market Today LIVE | Zomato gains 1.5%, HSBC raises target price to Rs 93

Shares of Zomato, the restaurant aggregator and food delivery company on Thursday are up 1 per cent to trade at 74.8 on NSE. Of late, foreign brokerages have raised the target prices on the stock. The latest one to join the list is HSBC, which has increased the target to Rs 93. This is the biggest target increase for the stock since December 13, 2021, according to Zee Business Research.

Since April, leading foreign brokerages such as Morgan Stanley, Citi, and CLSA have raised their target prices. Zomato gains 1.5%, HSBC raises target price to Rs 93. Read more

SBI Card, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Bajaj Finance and other stocks from the banking and financial services basket are staging mixed moves on Thursday, a day after a draft circular by the RBI asked banks and non-banking financial companies to issue credit, debit and prepaid cards on multiple networks to give customers the freedom to choose. While ICICI Bank and Axis Bank gained around half a per cent in early deals on BSE, SBI Card, HDFC Bank, Bajaj Finance delined up to one per cent. 

"On a review, it is observed that arrangements existing between card networks and card issuers (banks and non-banks) are not conducive to the availability of choice for customers," the central bank said in the circular, seeking comments till August 4. Read more

Share Market Today LIVE | Tata Power shares gain after power generator bags Rs 1,744-crore smart meter project  

Tata Power shares are in demand on Thursday, a day after the Tata group power generation company bagged a smart meter deal worth Rs 1,744 crore. Tata Power shares are up nearly 3 per cent, trading at Rs 228.15 on NSE.  The Tata Power stock gained by as much as Rs 5.9 or 2.6 per cent to touch Rs 227.5 apiece on BSE, coming within Rs 24 of a 52-week high registered in September 2022. 

As part of the deal, Tata Power will implement a smart metering project for Chhattisgarh State Power Distribution Company. Tata Power will install and maintain 18.6 lakh smart meters in the Raipur area of Chhattisgarh comprising Raipur City and Raipur rural areas, it said. Read more
