Share Market HIGHLIGHTS: The domestic equity benchmark indices settled lower for the second consecutive day on Friday, August 18, amid weak global cues and heavy selling in IT, pharma, and realty stocks. Inflationary worries from the US and demand concerns from China weighed on investor sentiment. Both indices slipped over 0.25 per cent. S&P BSE Sensex ended down 202.36 points, or 0.31 per cent, at 64,948.66, while the NSE Nifty settled 55.10 points, or 0.28 per cent, at 19,310.15.

After a lull, PVR Inox shares have shown an impressive recovery. The stock, which was hammered badly during the COVID-19 pandemic, the period that also saw the merger between PVR and Inox Leisure, has been on a recovery path as life returns to normalcy. A strong content pipeline from Hollywood, Bollywood, and the regional film industry makes the multiplex operator's shares an attractive buy.
Global brokerage CLSA has maintained a "BUY" rating on the stock with a target price of Rs 2,015. It said the success of the latest Hindi films will likely help address concerns about under-delivery. Read more

Shares of Coal India edge lower as the coal major traded ex-dividend today. The central public sector undertaking (CPSU) announced a final dividend of Rs 4 per equity share. i.e., a 40 per cent payout for the financial year 2022–23, subject to the approval of the members in the forthcoming Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the company. Besides, August 18 is also the fixed record date for the purpose of ascertaining the eligibility of members for payment of the final dividend.
As per Coal India's communiqué, the final dividend, if approved at the forthcoming AGM, will be paid to the eligible members within the stipulated period of 30 days from the date of the AGM. Read more

Shares of Finolex Cables, an electrical and telecommunications cable manufacturer, rise after Jefferies raised its target price by nearly 24 per cent on the counter. The stock climbs over 6 per cent and touched the intra-day high of Rs 1,097.65 apiece on the BSE.
Global brokerage Jefferies has maintained a 'buy' call on Finolex Cables and raised its target price to Rs 1,270 apiece from Rs 1,025 apiece earlier. According to the brokerage, the company is a beneficiary of housing and capital expenditure in India, and its communication segment is likely to benefit from the 5G rollout. Read more

The board of ITC has approved the demerger of the hotel business into a new entity - ITC Hotels Limited. Once demerged, the new company will be listed on BSE Limited and the National Stock Exchange of India separately. The Board of Directors of the Company has approved the scheme of demerger in a meeting held on Monday, the company said in an exchange filing. Talking about the rationale behind the decision, the company said that the Hotels Business of ITC has matured over the years and is well poised to chart its own growth path.
The company said that as part of the demerger, for every 10 ordinary shares of ITC Limited having a face value of Re 1, one equity share of ITC Hotels Limited bearing a face value of Re 1 will be issued. Read more

Shares of South Indian Bank jumps as much as 11.14 per cent to Rs 23.45 apiece on the BSE on Friday, a day after the lender, in its regulatory filing, said that the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has approved the appointment of PR Seshadri as MD & CEO of South Indian Bank, with effect from October 1. The bank said Seshadri has been appointed for a period of three years. The scrip trades at Rs 23.05, up 9.35 per cent on BSE. Read more

Shares of Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation Limited (NSE: IRCTC) trade ex-dividend today, August 18. IRCTC, which is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Indian Railways under the Ministry of Railways, had recommended a final dividend of Rs 2 per equity share with a face value of Rs 2 each for the financial year 2022–23. Shares of the company are slated to list on bourses today.
State-run oil company ONGC on Thursday announced it was investing Rs 1 lakh crore by the end of this decade in low-carbon energy opportunities, including renewables and green hydrogen. In a statement, the company said that it had detailed a "roadmap to scale up its low-carbon energy portfolio significantly".
Real estate company Godrej Properties said on Thursday that its net debt jumped 45 per cent during the April-June quarter of this financial year to Rs 5,298 crore against Rs 3,649 crore it reported in the previous quarter. The company said that the increased debt came on the back of aggressive land purchases across major cities. Its debt-equity ratio stands at 0.56. The company's share price ended flat at Rs 1,550 on Thursday.
Lending giant HDFC Group launched its life insurance and asset management services on Thursday in GIFT City, Gujarat. The company said that while HDFC International Life and Re had been set up by HDFC Life, HDFC AMC International (IFSC) Ltd had been established by HDFC Asset Management Company to offer services to non-resident Indians (NRIs) and the global Indian diaspora. On the other hand, ACC, FSN E-Commerce (Nykaa), HDFC Asset Management, Page Industries and Indus Towers will exit the index. The changes will take effect on September 29, according to the bourse.
