The BSE Sensex gained marginally by 21 points or 0.04 per cent to 59320 and Nifty declined by 30 points or 0.17 per cent to 17,661.3 on Tuesday. While in the broader markets, Mid-cap Index gained by 24.2 points or 0.08 per cent to 30899.5 levels today at the market open.

Of 50 scrips on Nifty50, 23 advanced, 26 declined and one remained unchanged minutes after the market open today. ONGC gained most by over 1.5 per cent at the market open today, followed by Divis Lab, Coal India, Cipla and Bharti Airtel each gaining around 0.5 per cent.
On the contrary, Cipla declined most in a mixed market by around 2 per cent, followed by Bajaj Finserv down over 1.5 per cent, similarly, Hindalco, Dr Reddy, Tech M slumped almost 1 per cent at the market open on Tuesday.
Except for Auto and FMCG all other indices declined at the market open today. Nifty IT slumped around 1 per cent, followed by Nifty Pharma, while Nifty Auto gained most by 0.35 per cent. The weakness in broader markets is mainly led by Nifty Realty down over 1 per cent at the market open.
Globally, the US markets started the week on a negative note as stocks sell-off with global cues turning bearish with Dow Jones lower by 400 points while Nasdaq closed 6 per cent off from recent highs.
Similarly, Asian markets on Tuesday opened weak with the Japanese 'Nikkei' trading lower by 850 points in early trade even as Chinese markets remain closed this week for holidays.
Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) bought shares worth Rs 860.5 crore in cash and bought Rs 228.06 crore in index futures on Monday.
