Maruti Suzuki on Tuesday launched the much awaited 2017 Dzire sedan price starting at Rs 5.45 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

While the petrol variants are priced between Rs 5.45 lakh to Rs 7.94 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The diesel variant of the Dzire is priced between Rs 6.45 lakh – Rs 9.41 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

Maruti Suzuki Dzire has already received a good response as it received 33,000 bookings already, according to a Bloomberg report. 

Bookings for the new Dzire had been opened earlier this month for a token amount of Rs 11,000 and the company said it has received a strong response for the car.

The new car is based on the HEARTECH platform which claims to make the car lighter, stronger, more rigid and safer. It also has Auto Gear Shift (AGS) technology with both the petrol and diesel in its V models and upwards.

The petrol variant comes with the VVT 1.2 litre petrol K series engine and the diesel variant is fixed with the DDiS 190 1.3 litre engine. In total the new Dzire comes in eight variants.

Maruti Suzuki's Swift Dzire has been the second best selling car after Alto and sold 1.3 million plus since its launch in 2008. Dzire contibute around 50% of vehicle sales in the segment. The company has now dropped the Swift brand name from the latest version.

Dzire competes with cars such as Honda Amaze, Toyota Etios, Ford Aspire, Tata Zest, Hyundai Xcent, Tata Indigo Manza, Volkswagen Ameo and Tata Tigor.

In comparison, the Hyundai Xcent is priced between Rs 5.42 lakh – Rs 7.55 lakh for the petrol version and Rs 6.32 lakh – Rs 8.45 lakh for the diesel version. This means that the new Dzire is very competitively priced to its closest competitor.

The Honda Amaze is priced between Rs 5.53 lakh – Rs 8.43 lakh for the petrol variant and Rs 6.66 lakh – Rs 8.44 lakh for the diesel variant. The Volkswagen Ameo is priced at Rs 5.53 lakh – Rs 7.38 lakh for the petrol variant and Rs 6.93 lakh – Rs 9.88 lakh for the diesel variant.
