Keeping this in mind, Global NCAP has prepared a list of cars considered to be the safest to buy in India.

From Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq to Tata Safari, Hyundai Verna, and more - these are the 5 safest cars in India with 5-star safety ratings, according to Global NCAP:
Tata Safari/Harrier
Tata Motors' flagship cars, Safari and Harrier, stand on top of the list of the safest cars in India, according to the Global NCAP rating. Both cars secured the highest rating in both adult and child occupant protection. With a 5-star rating, both cars scored 33.05 points out of 34 for adult occupant protection, while 45 points out of 49 for child occupant protection.
Tata Nexon
Another car from Tata Motors – Tata Nexon – is also on the list of the safest cars in India. Launched in 2023, the car has the second-highest rating in both adult and child safety. According to the Global NCAP rating data, the car has scored 32.22 points for adult occupant protection and 44.52 points for child occupant protection. The starting ex-showroom price of this car is Rs 8.15 lakh (approx).
Volkswagen Virtus/Skoda Slavia
Volkswagen Virtus and Skoda Slavia shared the third position in the list of the safest cars in India. With a 5-star rating in both categories, these cars scored 29.71 points for adult occupant protection and 42 points for child occupant protection, as per the Global NCAP rating. In terms of pricing, the ex-showroom price of Virtus starts at Rs 11.48 lakh, while Slavia's ex-showroom price starts at Rs 10.89 lakh.
Volkswagen Taigun/Skoda Kushaq
With the starting ex-showroom price of Rs 10.89 lakh and Rs 11.62 lakh, respectively, Volkswagen Taigun and Skoda Kushaq share the fourth position. In global NCAP testing, both scored 29.64 for adult occupant protection and 42 points for child occupant protection.
Hyundai Verna
Launched in 2023, the new Verna is Hyundai's first car to receive a 5-star rating in Global NCAP. With the starting ex-showroom price of Rs 10.90 lakh (approx), the car scored 28.18 points for adult occupant protection and 42 points for child occupant protection (5 stars in both).
