Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje today asked Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley to lower GST rates on certain products such as tilpati, marble and granite of the state.
In a letter to Jaitely, the chief minister has made special request to reduce GST rates on tilpati, chikki, gajak rewdi, among others, from 18 per cent to 5 per cent.
She wrote that only 5 per cent GST rate is applicable on sweets, so on these food products, the GST rate should be reduced from 18 per cent to 5 per cent only.
Also, the rates of GST on Mehndi products and marble, granite, hospitality sector and Rajasthani horses should be reduced, she added.
In the 22nd meeting of the GST Council, the chief minister thanked the Union finance minister on the decision to provide relief to the tax rates for small and medium enterprises.
