Anil Foods, leading manufacturer of vermicelli in South India, has roped in popular actor Vijay Sethupathi as its brand ambassador.

Anil Marketing company is the holding company of the popular brand Anil Semiya.

On being appointed as the brand ambassador, Sethupathi announced that a sum of Rs 49.20 lakh would be donated towards the education of the needy across Tamil Nadu, a press release quoting him said.

He said with Ariyalur being one of the most backward districts in education and infrastructure, a sum of Rs 5,000 would be donated to 774 Anganwadis in the district totalling Rs 38.70 lakh.

Another share would be donated to 10 schools for the visually-challenged, 11 schools for the hearing impaired schools in Tamil Nadu, the release said.

On the occasion, the company also introduced five different varieties of millet-based products in the market along with new logo and new product packaging.

"In a time where junk food is popular regardless of its adverse effects on health and wellbeing, Anil Foods has introduced varieties of healthy millet-based Semiya varieties to the market", Anil Foods managing director Kamal Hassan said in the release.
