Stock market today: Benchmark indices opened in positive territory on Wednesday, July 26. The NSE Nifty opened above the 19,700 level, while the Sensex was above the 66,400 mark. At the time of filing this report, the Nifty50 index was trading at 19,733.35, up 52.75 points, while the S&P BSE Sensex was trading at 66,434.72, up 79.01 points. Among heavyweights, L&T, Tata Motors, and Hero MotoCorp gave support to the headline index.
Broader market
Broder market indices opened in green. Nifty Midcap 100 index edged up by 0.35 per cent whereas Smallcap 100 was trading flat.
Sectoral watch
Nifty Bank opened 0.20 per cent higher at 45,935.15. Nifty FMCG, IT and Auto indices lent support to the headline index.
Buzzing stocks
Tata Motors, L&T, and Hero MotoCorp opened on a positive note. Among other stocks, Apollo Tyres, Delta Corp, UTI AMC, Transformers and Rectifiers, Jyothy Labs, Mazagon Dock, and Aarti Drugs opened higher.
Conversely, Can Fin Homes, Triveni Engineering, Bombay Burmah, South Indian Bank, and Satin Credicare opened in red.
