Delhiites will likely to get relief from heat as monsoon is likely to hit Delhi-NCR between July 3 and 5 according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). Monsoon is likely to hit the national capital in the next 72 hours, beginning with light showers on Tuesday night, IMD said.
Light rains were expected on Wednesday and Thursday after which the delayed monsoon will set in. The national capital for the last few weeks has seen massive heat as the average temperature has soared over 40 degrees celcius and humidity worsened the conditions further.
IMD's Kuldeep Srivastava, with the rains, there would be a slight dip in the temperature. The maximum temperature on Tuesday was recorded at 40 degrees celsius and the minimum at 30 degrees celsius.
Since southwesterly winds were bringing in moisture and now that the wind direction has changed as Easterly winds are likely to hit Delhi, we can expect a respite from humid conditions as well, added Srivastava further.
However, the financial capital Mumbai has witnessed a severe rainfall condition with collapsed wall accident in Pimpripada area of Malad East causing reportedly over 25 deaths. The city is going through water logging, traffic jams, train/flight delays making it hard for travellers and commuters to commute.
